What happened to all the hype and rumors about DLH being bulldozed and replaced with a brand new hyper themed DLH that would be on par with Paris and Tokyo? Disney went the cheap route as usual

Nope, they've had those for a while now... I still have some from my stay a few years ago! Hehehe

Hmm... the DisneyBlog's coverage of the press release mentions "another remake of the hotel grounds." I wonder if that's true? I hope they don't do too much; I'm very fond of the Neverland theme, especially the revival of the Captain Hook Pirate Ship as the waterslide, and the mini-Jungle Cruise game.

I see your point here, but I'm actually glad they didn't take that route. There's one thing that the DLH has that Paris and Tokyo don't: a history. As lovely as the DLH Paris and DLH Tokyo are, IMO it's good that the original hotel is keeping its towers in some form... but now heavily modernized and exquisitely decorated. Jack Wrather would be pleased.

the room looks very Vegas, kind of like the rooms at the Mirage after their re-do. I like it!

I really like these rooms, very nice contemporary feel. I don't understand why some want the entire hotel demolished? Having a TDL hotel style in that space would really make the hotel look out of place.

Just doing a little math here.

All 3 towers done by 2012 and I'm guessing they will halt construction from mid June to mid August, the super heavy summer months.

1st tower renovated Aug '09 - Jun '10
2nd presumably Aug '10 - Jun '11
3rd then Aug '11 - Jun '12

Anyway, if they're doing the towers in halves, that means 5 months per half. That's a pretty aggressive schedule!

I doubt that doing this retrofit is all that cheap... and a lot of times a major remodel is more expensive than new construction since you have to deal with all of the preexisting conditions not to mention - in this case - keeping the hotel operational.
