I was watching TV a couple of weeks ago, and I was so excited to see a Disneyland commercial come on. Then I heard the music for the commercial come on... it was a Miley Cyrus song. It was so furious I turned it on mute and almost started crying and I wanted so badly to take a bat to my TV.

Who in the heck agreed to have her song on there?! Just because she's on Disney Channel and had her birthday there DOES NOT mean that she has the right to have her song advertise the park! That really rubs me the wrong way. I honestly believe that she makes Disney look cheap.

Does anyone else have a problem with this?

The song is fine and fits perfectly with what Disneyland is trying to promote right now - a party atmosphere.

If the song weren't relevant I'd see your point of view, but really in this case there is nothing wrong. It's a catchy toon, might I add.

I just don't understand why they didn't select another song by someone who hasn't been caught up in racy photo scandals.

They use lots of non traditional music on Disney commercials. Whatever presents a mindset that will get people to visit the parks. There is a whole art in figuring the subliminal messages that inspire people to do what you want. As a minor stockholder I'm all for getting more people into the parks. As an AP holder I wish they wouldn't. Life is full of conflicts.

I find it slightly annoying, ain't my cup o' tea - but I wouldnt go so far as to say I have a problem with it.

Like you, I just hit mute...and then go do something I've been putting off before coming back to the tube. No biggie.

Do 5-12 year-olds really need to be marketed to in order to persuade them to nag their parents for a DL trip? Using Miley Cyrus to promote the park is more likely to turn off a lot of potential casual visitors to the park than persuade more of the choir to turn up when they're already on board.

We can all point fingers at things that happened more than a year ago regarding any celeb. I don't see your point in bringing that up as she already apologized and hasn't done anything scandalous since.

It's not just the photo scandals, she's a face for Disney and makes Disney look cheap.

The logic of using Miley Cyrus for Disneyland promotions may sound right on paper, but it does indeed make the park play out like a tween fantasy. If their goal is to market the resort to the younger audience, I say that is somewhat foolish because tweens aren't the one booking the trips and shelling out the cash to go. Local tweens interested in going are most likely already going regardless of the advertisements. I think the ads should target adults more than anything to encourage and persuade out-of-towners that Disneyland is a place for the entire FAMILY. I would rather the ads focus more on Tinkerbell since she is also extremely popular right now due to her new series of movies. Miley Cyrus is an abomination to the Walt Disney Company and a talentless little brat.
