iPhone 3GS at Disneyland

So, as many of you know, the iPhone 3GS was released this past Friday. So I got to thinking: With this new camera and video recording & uploading capabilities, how well will it hold up to a day at Disneyland?

I'll be going up to the parks tomorrow, planning to shoot video both on and off the rides. Thought about posting a "video trip report" after I got back, but then I figured my fellow Micechatters might like to follow along as I post throughout the day.

So how do you follow along? There are a few options: You can subscribe to my YouTube channel, or if you use Twitter, you can follow an account I set up just for this purpose, here. It will automatically update any time I upload a 3GS-recorded video.

Or if you don't want to follow along semi-live, I'll embed the better videos to this post on Thursday (as well as uploading uncompressed videos to another service).

Lucky! I am pretty sure that you will be fine the battery last about 20% longer and you have gps to see where EXACTLY in the park you are. The camera has much better resolution but even with any HD camera you cannot succesfully film dark rides in detail unless you have infared but then you spoil the ride because it lets you see everything. You will be fine and remember to not ruin your trip because you always have your iphone or camera on hand recording (take it from someone who's done it)... somethings are just meant to be enjoyed

Re: iPhone 3GS at Disneyland

^Depends on how well the camera shoots in low-light. I've had cameras that shot beautifully on dark rides (prior to HD cameras making it to the consumer market), and I've had cameras that shot terribly.

As for enjoying the trip...this trip is just for the purposes of putting the camera to the test Video on the (jailbroken) 3G was terrible...but that was to be expected, it wasn't made to shoot video. So I'm excited to try this one out.

I think the 3GS has an automatic white color balancer which is good!... but as far as I am concerned it doesn't do so well in low light.

Re: iPhone 3GS at Disneyland

^Well that's what tomorrow is for. To see what it's really capable of. Planning to record darkrides, coasters, and everything in between to get a better idea.

If this video (shot with a 3GS) is an indication, it'll do fine at fireworks, if nothing else. (although I suppose a video like that would have to be split in two at home and uploaded to get around YouTube's 10 minute limit).

Re: iPhone 3GS at Disneyland

I picked up mine last Friday and I love it so far. I'm sure video will become a big app thing soon enough. I tried to use my last jailbroken one and stream Magical using Qik so hopefully something more reliable will surface.

Re: iPhone 3GS at Disneyland

we should do an iPhone 3Gs meet up at disneyland. How fun would it be to have thousands of 3Gs owners walking around the park, filming their video and then uploading it to youtube within the park calling it the Epic Disneyland iPhone 3Gs project.

Or make a group and ride IASW together with 3Gs in hand and filming the ride and uploading it after in to youtube haha

Re: iPhone 3GS at Disneyland

^You can, but the quality takes a hit. Compare this:

YouTube - iPhone 3GS Video Test

To the uncompressed upload here.

Any video uploaded directly from the 3GS to youtube has the "Uploaded using iPhone" badge when you expand the information.

Looking forward to shooting tomorrow...I'll post in here once more when I get to the resort. Expect the first videos to surface between 8 and 9am, and then continue throughout the day.

Re: iPhone 3GS at Disneyland

^Haha, yeah that just happened to be the first place I went after picking up the 3GS that wasn't home or work.

Videos should start to appear in the next hour or so, although I'll be saving the bigger outdoor rides (Thunder, Matterhorn, maybe Screamin) until later, after the cloud cover burns off.

Just as a reminder, you can follow the videos posted on my YouTube channel here, or follow @3GSVideo on Twitter, which will automatically update when videos are posted.
