Coheteboy - I didn't see that you had already suggested this earlier in the thread. I remember reading about a room up there, but can't remember what became of it.

But if you wanted me to shell out $10,000 for a special membership in DCA, (maybe while waiting for a membership to open up in Club 33), having a specially themed elevator complete with the same uniformed elevator operators from the ride taking me up to the "13th floor" with a lounge that had a spectacular view of both parks....that might just do it. Not sure if it is structurally strong enough to handle an actual kitchen and dining room, but it sure is fun to think about.

    Re: Carthay Circle Club Concept

So are they asking Club 33 wait list people to sacrifice their place on the waiting list in order to join the Carthay Circle Club (CCC)? Or are they suggesting giving those already waiting on the list first bite at the apple while maintaining their place on the list?

My observations about a new club. I think it's fine. Maybe their research suggests that they can generate profit by tapping into the demographic of private club clientele who might not otherwise be disposed to visit the parks as frequently.

Philosophically I'm not opposed to the idea either. When you're dealing with big resorts with millions of visitors a year, there's always price ranges, from churro carts to fine dining and clubs, small hotel rooms to large suites. I think having a sophisticated private club at DCA would add to the prestige of the restort, and for the members who fork over the dough, a fun place to eat, drink, and be merry, IMHO.

Do they have such a facility (a private club) in Florida?

No such club in Florida, but various pavilions in EPCOT had corporate lounges for employees of the sponsor. No membership fee, not an elaborate dining room, just a place to sneak away from the crowds and the heat for a free drink.

Waiter, could you bring me some more water, it got knocked over by the vibrations. And our napkins keep blowing away. Can you undo my seat belt so I can use the restroom? Down the stairs, to my left, got it.

My guess? Electrical equipment and the machines that operate the elevators/ride vehicles.

It's a beautiful "blue sky" kind of idea, but I wouldn't bet money on it seeing the light of day.

The only other Club 33 is in Tokyo. I thought I read somewhere a while ago that there was some sort of private club not called Club 33 but a private club at WDW that is not there any more. I could be wrong about that, and I don't remeber where I read it at either. And I want to say it was in downtown Disney.

Isn't there a small private room in DL as part of the Autopia that is for Chevron?

There is NO room up there. Trust me. And getting up there would be a nightmare. The cost of doing this would be well beyond what Disney would find justifiable.

I do like the idea of having a Club 33 type club in the Hollywoodland section should they retheme it to look much more like old Hollywood and not just a set. But having it at the center of the park, doesn't sound so good.

    Re: Carthay Circle Club Concept

I'm not opposed to them having an exclusive Club 33-like restaurant at DCA, but I agree that the Carthay Circle Theater is not the place for it. The park's new "weenie" shouldn't be only for the elite. As others have pointed out, part of what is so special and appealing about Club 33 is that it is tucked away and hidden from guests. If you don't know about it, you would walk right by it. Also, I'm not sure if there really is a demand for such a club at DCA. I would imagine that most people would prefer to be at Club 33 for the nostalgia and the fact that it's in Disneyland. They could make the DCA version 10 times nicer, but I don't think it would change this.

Here in Disney World, you often see guests asking cast members if they can go in the castle. Obviously, the only way in there is to book a reservation 90 days in advance (they changed it and you can no longer book 180 days in advance), so they are usually dissappointed that they can't go in, but at least they aren't told "No, that's only for exclusive club members who paid a lot of money to go there." This would be the same story at DCA.

Guest: Can I go in the Carthay Circle Theater?
Cast Member: No, I'm sorry. You have to pay $10,000 to go in there. We couldn't fill it up, so there is plenty of room. Please visit Guest Relations if you are interested.

I think they should find something better to do with that space. It could even still be a restaurant, as long as its not exclusive. After all, DCA could use another table service restaurant, one that appeals to more than just wine drinkers and princess fans. As an Orlando resident, I am spoiled by the large amount of fantastic table service restaurants at WDW. When I go to Disneyland, this is the one area that I feel they fall flat on.

^^^I agree with this guy. I'm not usually the one to make a comment when i dont like someone's, because frankly i dont really like it when people put down mine...but hey thats life, i gotta deal with it. But, honestly, no offense, but i think this is a horrible idea. And just sounds to me either like a way for Disney to make extra money, or like a way for the wealthy to show off their excess wealth. I think this is stupid because this "theatre" should in fact be a theatre. If there is a club somewhere back in some building in HPB, or something like that fine. But i think putting it right there for the rest of guest to know and see, and not giving guests the privilege to eventually get something out of the new weenie, would be bad. So who are they building this for some rich people that want to indulge and be catered too, or is it for all people? Club 33 is enough, lets not get greedy and self indulgent here.

Once again... just my opinion, and to each his or her own.

This is great. How appropriate that the "castle at the end of the street" in a California themed park would be a place that says, "You're not invited inside." Club 33 is too discreet, this is nice and big and in your face.

I totally agree with the above. Even Eisner had the sense to hide his lush corporate luncheon room out of the way in the vinery. There should really be an attraction of some kind put in there much like how the great movie ride is at DHS.

Allthough putting Club 33 smack dab in front of everyone is very indicative of California's spirit since we have very exclusive places like La Jolla, Beverly Hills, etc. Now where on the park map can I find 'South Central DCA'?
