The park's new "weenie" shouldn't be only for the elite.
Great Post. And aren't they about 2 years too late for this? All indications are people's spending and borrowing habits are changing as a result of the Recession tightening credit markets and hemoraging losses on the market.
Who are these people who want to pay $10K to look flashy at DCA?
I seriously doubt if anyone on the current Club 33 waiting list would opt-out in lieu of anything other than Club 33.
Sorry, but Club 33 has a certain cachet that can't be matched.
Now what if...
Every carthay circle club patron had an optional number of club 33 reservations per year? Let's say.. two. And vice versa for Club 33 people... to be able to reserve at Carthay Circle twice a year.
Would that be more appealing for all involved? Carthay people will still be able to get into club 33 but not at the rate a normal club 33 patron. And they'll still be able to invite their guests into the parks for a magical time.
I would suggest that the Carthay Circle may be a stepping stone to Club 33, i.e., you can join Carthay now, AND stay on the Club 33 wait list, assuming that all Carthay Circle initiation fees (but not yearly maintenance fees) apply towards a Club 33 membership when one becomes available. A proposal such as this could get some people quite excited about the "Carthay Circle" concept.
And yes, a little "quid pro quo" of being able to book a Club 33 ressie a couple of times a year would certainly interest some folks into throwing down. I'm just not sure how much discretionary money there is for folks right now to buy into this idea.
As a member of the Carthay Circle Club I would have a set number of days that I could get reservations for Club 33. Maybe 1-2 per year.
If the membership fee for the new club was the same as Club 33's membership fee, I think they would be wise to create an new outstanding restaurant but have lower prices on their menu. This way some of those that go to Club 33 often may choose to eat at the Carthay Club occasionally to enjoy that atmosphere and save a little money.
People with the Club 33 membership could be aallowed 1-2 dining times per year at the new restaurant.
While the majority would choose Club 33, I think if you made the Carthay Circle Club extremely nice, with great food, and perhaps a cool entry door like Club 33, you would please quite a few people.
