Thx Macro.. our normal photogs have been slacking lately

One interesting point about the orphan pumps...

Notice they have brackets on one end that raise them up quite high? The other pumps are still mostly prop'd up on wood blocks still.

Makes me think these pumps are to attach to something higher that is yet to be placed.

Yes, IndyILuvU, you can go to my blog and type in "Imagineering" on a search. I have three different galleries of DCA 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 art in high res. (plus lots of concept art in general!) Hope this helps. See the link below.

These pumps look to be about 2/3s as large as the ones hooked to the five port manifolds. That's still a lot of water. The open end of the adapters are smaller than the 5 port manifolds so they hook the pump to something else. And there's quite a lot of these orphan pumps sitting out on the platform. We haven't seen the aimable fountains yet so maybe these are for those.
It sounds like there are more fountains to come, in addition to the special effects equipment such as water screens and flames? In my very uneducated opinion, the platform looks quite sparse. When comparing it to the Bellagio fountains, the WOC fountains seem to be much more spread out.

I have no doubt that the designers and engineers know exactly what they're doing...I'm just commenting based on observations to date.

Well, since what they are doing has never been done before,I think it's more like they HOPE they know what they are doing.

I keep expecting something interesting to show up in somebody's pictures (darkbeer and mintcrocodile are there a lot more than me) any day now. If they're filling the bay in September then they'd better get moving.

I assume there's a bracket that hooks between the motor and the pump or one at the end of the motor and they can't attach it until they get the motors installed. The wood blocks remind me of cars up on blocks with their tires removed in the neighborhood I jog through. It's very unsightly. The obsessive-compulsive in me wishes they'd hook the motors onto everything and get it over with already.

Oh. And I finally went to the trouble of finding the name for those vertical cable thingies: cable carriers. No wonder I couldn't remember it. It's too generic. You can see pictures of them here. I think that's what you can see under the platform in this intentionally overexposed picture. The round part hanging downward to the left of the scissor lifter is the cable chain. It's hard to tell for sure. It's pretty dark under there and it's not easy getting decent pictures of it.

The orange peel that's left looks like a decapitated Pac-Man.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker VI

It is fun to see the orange coming down.

One thing that i find interesting is that Paradise Pier needed large structures to help that area of the park feel more intimate. Instead of us seeing structures like the Burger invasion getting bigger or other large structures and icons rise up around the boardwalk we are actually seeing them come down.

That whole south west corner of the park is going to look even more barren without the orange. when you stand in the north/east side of the land you will be able to see some nicely themed attractions but beyond that a big open canvas as far as the eye could see.

Several large trees and maybe a few large structures in that area should be considered for the future of Paradise pier.

I was really hoping that they would have added some height to both the pizza oom mow mow and burger invasion structure. so far from the looks of the final concept art they abandoned some of the original structure designs for more of a retheming of the existing structures
