Since the new Paradise Pier is actually set in the timeframe of the late 1920s to early 1930s, the time of Mickey Mouse's premier, the Paradise Pier Hotel should be redone as an Art Deco hotel. The basic lines of the existing hotel with its strong vertical and horizontal components would fit very well with an Art Deco overlay without having to tear down and completely rebuild the hotel.

The Art Deco movement was born out of the 1925 Paris Exposition so similar to the craftsman style the grand Californian Hotel uses, Art Deco is completely in keeping with the new theme and time frame of Paradise Pier. As part of the re-theme, they could include signage throughout the pier advertising the "new" hotel. This is a great solution as it does not require tearing down a perfectly good structure and rebuilding it from scratch.

Re-theming to Art Deco will serve the same purpose allowing the PP hotel to serve as an effective berm on the west side of Paradise Pier. I do agree that it would be great to build a bridge across Disneyland Dr. in order to provide direct access from the Paradise Pier Hotel to the Paradise Pier section of DCA.
Regardless of how they redo PP eventually, it must match/ fit the theme that is present in the park at Paradise Pier.

I didnt know that there was once an entrance there, but it should be opened again with a connection to Paradise Pier hotel.

If the connecting bridge/ walkway/ tunnel were enclosed or themed enough, one may not even know that they are crossing a street. Who knows a new attraction could be built on that side as well. (I know that parking lot is needed!!!) But still, I am a Paradise Pier Fan, and am one of the believers that it has tremendous potential, that can make it one of the most loved areas in the park.

Haha yes very true if you want to make it a "real" replica or representation. But this is disney, they can break those rules, and create their own world where there are in fact nice hotels near this seaside amusement park.

And yes i have been to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, as well as Belmont Park in Mission beach. So i get what you are saying but still.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker VI

Ok....... I just saw Darkbeer's most recent photos. I can't help but be confused about the area for the Little Mermaid. I don't see how this area is going to give the Little Mermaid the same ride time as the Haunted Mansion which is what I've read. I thought that this ride was suppose to have a few grand show scenes???????? In a nut shell I feel that the space being provided for the little Mermaid is too small. Anyone have more info on this? Help a Mad Duck out!!

More representative of Myrtle Beach, as is, if you ask me. lol

Back to squeezing out more juice on the orange -- it looks to me that other than the side facing the bay, they are down to the "base" with the peeling.

Now it's been awhile since I've seen photos of the thing without the peel, so is there more of the same supports down below that hold up the peel or how is the structure down there held in place?

A couple things I noticed and a few questions... (photos courtesy Darkbeer)

Half of the SS Rustworthy is now behind walls near the Orange Stinger and I assume the other walls will be removed soon.

How are they removing the big pieces of orange? There's no crane that I see and I don't think a group of workers could handle it safely. Are they removing them by crane at night?

Infrastructure work going on in the parking lot before construction of Cars Land: putting in pipes, putting up a high fence, etc. But are they also building the outside wall foundation or is that just for the fence?

We'll get around to it. Seems no matter what we always get back to where we left off.

I see a crane in the top left corner of the first picture.

Also, is that the parade building in the second picture with the curved design on it?

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker VI

This thread has collapsed like a never loved orange. We need pictures of something exciting, like tests, or animated cars roaring around the old parking lot.

The thing is realism is not what the goal should be, but rather a stylized and idealized version of what they're aiming for.

What's that next to the orange in the upper left?

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker VI

Any one else agree that the PPH should be linked to PP, and have an available entrance for hotel guests where the current parade gate is.

This all being Once the PP hotel is finally renovated/ redone in how ever many years.
California Adventure would greatly benefit from two hotels with direct access to the park.
