I think they are calling it Hollywoodland because that is what it was called when Walt arrived here in California. It wasn't always just Hollywood

That dining corner is GREAT. I hope Disney does not cop out on this like they did on the Sun Wheel. If Burger Invasion and Pizza Oom Mow Wow (whatever its called) end up like this art I'll be completely thrilled. I can't get over how cool this area looks.

A big thank you to everyone who takes the pictures and finds the info (such as that picture of the orange stinger, which someone ASKED for). DEMANDING that people do it is a bit over the line IMO.

I do hope that you get that transport fixed so that you can become one of the sources. It's nice for those of us who live far away to see what is going on.

BTW the OT post was moved to the proper forum. Not really worth having a fit over.
My post was a joke on how eager some people are for the news. Nothing to get upset about. I do greatly appreciate the updates and look forward to them. I have a fragile computer or I would get me a camera and be donating tons of pictures. Transport would be nicer if I had a lift on the back of my car but I could do weekly jaunts on the bus. I never got a printer to keep me from spending money and now I have lost E drive twice in a year which meant all programs lost. I so want to contribute.

Now for my remarks on the new stuff. I hope they keep the pizza kitchen as was so I can still get gluten free pizza. I like that there will be different menus available. We will again have Chinese food at the wharf, oh joy. Based on the images it seems there is a lot more work to be done on the bay and the viewing area so there cannot be an early filling of the bay.

This is the new fountain in the viewing area but notice how in the background is the Orange Stinger. You think they would have put in the Silly Symphony image there.

What are them purple blobs if not the Jumpin' Jellyfish ride.

Thank you everyone for the updates and I will try to get over there soon. I will be in parks tomorrow. I have lots of old cameras, film and pictures I should put on line but too lazy and making excuses.

WOW, love the updates and again thank you so much everyone.

I believe Megan Brain is the women who did the paper sculptures. She did work for the United Airlines Commercial and the titles for Kung-Fu Panda. And her blog is at: Megan Brain

I am really looking forward to seeing the upcoming changes.

On the Silly Symphony Swings does it raise higher then before with artwork appearing on the telescoping sections?

I doubt it...that would mean taking apart the swings, and adding a new section, and all the associated mechanics...which would cost money, and would take away money from Ariel's hair!

I like the name Hollywoodland. The post before that said that Hollywood used to be called Hollywoodland isn't exactly correct, however it does refer to what was basically a subdivision below the fameous Hollywood sign which at one time read Hollywoodland and served as a billboard for the developer which sold mansions to the rich and fameous in the Hollywood Hills area.

Instantly, the word then became synonomous with the rich and elegant lifestyle of the Hollywood area and for this reason is perfect to represent the land built to portray the idealistic "Hollywood that never was." Plus, having "Land" in it so nicely follows suit with the now 54 year old Disney park tradition. How perfect!

    Thanks.

I really think the swings will look much nicer with out the orange peel on the outside. Definitely an upgrade to me.

I hope the swings have a soundtrack designed to go with the ride that builds up to a 'storm' of music.

I think swinging out over the water will be really exciting actually. Imagine the view as you swoop around.

    A Carousel of Color

At Disney's California Adventure, the Blue Sky Cellar reopened with all new displays and video. The main focus was Disney's World of Color show that will be appearing at Disney's California Adventure in Spring 2010.

I won't be saying much, for I will let the pictures speak for themselves

Seems from the artwork that they are keeping jumping jellyfish at least in short term. Bummer. Was hoping that would go the way of the dinosaur and the orange. Well 2 out of 3 ain't bad

Mint also has the video that everyone has been asking for.

The new video shows closer pictures of the inside of Mermaid models and some of the beautiful detail that the Silly Symphony structure will get

I'd suggest looking at the Blue Sky Cellar thread for updates and videos. The video mentioned is on there.
