main street window dedication

Today I walked into city hall to ask about special activities they do on July 17th, and when I should arrive. The cast member walked to the back and asked about the events on Disneylands birthday. She came back and said that it would be a good idea to arrive early cause they get busier than usual. Then she also mentioned that they'll be dedicating a main street window to a disney legend. Anyone know who they're dedicating it to? Now I'm really gonna be there.lol

I could be wrong but I thought that Main Street window dedications were always prior to park opening and we cast only?

Does Marty Sklar have a window? That's his retirement day.

Re: main street window dedication

Sklar does not have window yet. I have a link to Laughing Place but there are other sites that have lists. Theirs is so detailed.

Disney Legends Home
Disney Legends is an official Disney group of people who are Legends in Disney history and who have greatly contributed to Disney. There are about 226 Legends and if you remove the names of people not retired, who are not really famous, and those with windows you still have at least 20 to choose from, that is a guestimate. They are not giving a window to Disney Legends like George Burns, Maurice Chevalier, or Tim Allen for example. Joe Fowler has Fowler's landing so I ruled him out, lol. The date is also very important so this person would have had to been early in Disneyland history and in going back to the 1960's or earliers which is why I say it will be the Sherman Brothers. However Martin Sklar has been with Disneyland since before it opened which would make this fitting.
So who would draw the biggest crowds?

Sherman Brothers

Re: main street window dedication

I was thinking Mary Blair also, but there's the whole IASW (minus the "additions") which is pretty much a living tribute to her.

Pity her Tomorrowland murals weren't preserved and located elsewhere, I realise they didn't match contemporary Tomorrowland so had to be moved, but such a loss to just punch holes in them and paint over..

Re: main street window dedication

Isn't the Disney Legends distinction from the a Main Street window? I thought I read that the Disney Legends ceremony is one of the things available at the D23 Expo in September.

If there is a window on 7/17 my money is on Marty.
