Re: Theme park, or Water Park

I would want a theme park, as a water park would be a HUGE waste of space if they put it on the strawberry fields space. I wouldn't mind one well themed and put somewhere by a hotel though.

Iv'e been throwing around some ideas for a new disney theme park and what I came up with was a park called "Disney Portal" Like Disneyland except it's lands are like "portals" in that they transport you to completely different worlds, as opposed to Disneyland where the lands are mostly inspired by places on Earth.

Sound like a good concept? Some feedback would be much appreciated.

Because no one is going to want to go to a water park during the winter, even if the water is heated.

This idea reminds me of the sci-fi series Stargate SG-1.

Really? I wasn't going for anything spacey... I just meant "portals" figuratively speaking. hah.

Just another term for lands really. When you get right down to it, all Disney theme parks are like portals, they transport you to different places in time and space. Like early 1900's middle america (Main street), or the future (Tomorrowland).

Okay! So they wouldn't really be that much different from lands just called portals.

Re: Theme park, or Water Park

both, i think a third theme park would be best in the strawberry field but a resort hotel with a water park would be perfect for the Simba parking lot. Obviously the Paradise pier hotel should be demolished. The water park could have the entrance in that area and a hotel could be built as a berm for the area.

They do have some plans for a once proposed water park for Paris with many areas indoor. The southern California weather is much better than Paris and i think a well planned water park would work but in the smaller Simba lot

Ummm, yeah... sorry I'm being confusing hah.

They're still lands, I'm just saying that their subject matter would be more mythological and fantasy based... Like you're being transported into new worlds or alternate reality's and that sort of thing. For example, the park could have a Jules Verne inspired land and it's supposed to be San Francisco, but it's San francisco as represented in the Jules verne inspired world. Than you'd have a land based on Roman myths, It wouldn't be a historical representation of Rome, because it would feature roman gods and the mythical creatures you've seen in the fables.

Okay! Haha i get you now! Hahaha it took a little bit of re-reading. I like that idea. They could definitely make it work in the strawberry fields.

I wish they took the opportunity to build Lava Lagoon in Paris. It would definitely be awesome to build a water park in Simba parking lot. Would they have to take out Paradise Pier Hotel? I was thinking they could re-build it and make it victorian and have it be a hotel with a big water park, what are those called again?

Re: Theme park, or Water Park

It would make sense to build both, a theme park in the strawberry fields and a water park in the parking lot.

If you were told you had to choose between one or the other, which would you choose?

Re: Theme park, or Water Park

I would love to see both, but at Tyler1994 just stressed if I had to choose, I would go for the theme park in the strawberry fields. Definitely a lot of possible potential for that space. I also like the idea of a Myths and Legends park.

I recently came up with another idea but I haven't quite refined it yet. The park would be called Disney's Planet Earth or Disney's Elemental Earth or Disney Element or ... ok I haven't got a great name yet but ... the park would be in someways the "Epcot" of the DLR but it wouldn't have the same themes, rides, or anything from Epcot. The park would be based on the idea of the natural elements that make up our planet: Fire, Water, Air, Earth, and Human (I tossed that last one in there).

    Human
-acts as entrance "main street" of park
-made up of man-made wonders (Great Pyramids, Stonehenge, Coliseum ...)
    Fire
-focused around the world of fire, lava ... icon is of course a volcano
-maybe include Journey to the Center of the Earth
    Water
-focused on water, ice (arctic), and aquatic life ... icon is a large waterfall
    Air
-focused on wind's natural power, aviation ... icon is a early zeppelin
-could hold a variation of the planned Soarin' Over the World (maybe more circle-vision-ish like we're in a hot air balloon)
    Earth
-focused on the soil, plant-life, and animal habitats ... icon is a tree of life, maybe, I haven't chosen yet.

The five lands (which can be compared to the Epcot futureworld pavilions but outdoors) radiate from a central "hub" where the park symbol is located.
The park symbol is the Mountain of Wonders, a mountain with the various ancient temples of the cultures and religions that believed in the four (*five* for the sake of the park) elements of the world.

What do you guys think? I haven't thought about many detailed attractions yet so I'm not sure.

As for a water park, I would put it in the Simba lot and base it off the Amazon Rainforest/River, ancient aztec/mayan temples, and an active volcano (it would be similar to the planned Lava Lagoon but not completely) I would call it Disney's Amazonia Park. To answer the question that it would be closed a lot during non-summer, I would allow room for non-water activities including jungle treks, live shows with fire dancers, possibly a zip-line, and other stuff and dub the park a water-park/half-day theme park.

    Neat idea FI.
One problem I see though is how to represent an element as a physical place? I get that fire can be a volcano on a tropical island, but water?... air?

    Great ideas!
Air is sort of a tricky one to come up with haha! They could use hot air ballons and blimps.
