I was thinking the same thing. Buy it now. Sit on it for ten years, and put it on Ebay around the time of the HM's 50th, when Disney is whipping up HM fever big time.

So, Disney's already admitted to making one HBG replica...who's to say they didn't make another?

I have a sinking feeling that this replica is the return of the HBG that they have been teasing and not his return to the mansion. Hope I'm wrong...

Well, there's a vast difference between (1) a state-of-the-art AA using some sort of technological marvel to pull off the famous effect and (2) what is essentially a life-sized Big Fig, so...I don't know if I'd press that argument too hard. It is surely the case that when if they bring him back there will be high expectations, and they know it, and they won't do it if they can't meet those expectations. It's dazzle or nothing, baby, dazzle or nothing.

Matter of fact, Lonesome Ghost tells me that some such reasoning may explain the...um...ordinariness of five days ago. Like I said before, done right is better than done quick.

I get how when the lights go out in the strecth room, and the ghost host is revealed by lightning flashes is a part of the loose "story", but I still can't figure out how the screaming woman falling and crashing fits in.

Who told you it was a woman? For one thing, it's voiced by a man (either Jimmy Macdonald or Dal McKennon).

That still wouldn't explain the hinting towards a sixth husband for Connie.

For one of the previous HM events (30th I think?), they apparently brought
back the Living Knight (CM in costume) forthat night, and that night only.
While I really, really hope for Hatters' return to be permanent (if he returns at all),
I wouldn't put it past Disney to just stick his likeness in his attic spot for one
    night.
Disney's had high expectations before, and sadly, they haven't always dazzled.

By the way, who is this Lonesome Ghost you keep mentioning? I'm hoping
he (or she) is a proven Disney employee who's leaking photos to you, and
    not just some anonymous tipster.

Maybe it's the screaming of a woman discovering the body, followed by the
corpse cutting itself down and falling to the floor?

Then again, it may have no canonical explanation, and just be there to
    unsettle guests.
That crashing gets me every time!

OK, what am I missing now? What happened five days ago that was so out of the ordinary?? Where do I get the secret decoder ring??

Oh, you mean the uneventful actual 40th???

I think Disney will be whooping that one up on 9-9-09, and didn't have any intention of celebrating it on the true historic date.

I hate to say it, but Kidney and Daily's Hatbox Ghost Big Fig looks better than the original HBG and waaaaaaay better than the lame pin figure offered recently. If the K&D Big Fig is any indication, the life-size model is going to be a mind-blower.

I can't tell you who Lonesome Ghost is, but... s/he Knows Things. If I'm reading the signals correctly, it was not originally planned that nothing at all would happen on the 40th. But nothing at all was what we got. I can't tell if the door has been slammed shut with regard to next month's bash, but I wouldn't put my bare tootsie on the threshold if I were you.

Better late than less than great.

But don't worry your pretty little heads.

Oooh, interesting! We'll, let's hope your informant is reliable.
