Celebration Roundup & BBQ to no longer be a Character Dining Meal

Another website is reporting that Wednesday, July 23 will be the last day for CRBBQ in its current format.

It will open on Thursday, July 24th, but without the Main Characters (Jessie and Woody) and no longer offer the Photo Pass option.

No word on pricing on if the menu will remain the same, or an a la carte menu will offered, or maybe a combination thereof.

Until I know if the prices will be changing I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing. I am thinking it's good. But as they say, money talks.

It would be great if they offered an ala carte menu at the BBQ Roundup!! We would defintely be eating there every time we were in the park... & that is no small order for a large family like ours!!

I am curious if this means a change in menu (as in a la carte as others have suggested) or an end to the BBQ in general. There has been talk of both.

While I'm pounding down a few cold ones in celebration of the 54th Birthday of Walt's creation tomorrow at the Club, I'll ask around.

My contacts there haven't steered me wrong in the past.

Internet rumors can take on a life of their own way too fast...

Good. Regardless of price, it was a touch creepy to have Jessie and Woody silently leering over you while you eat in a more than half empty space.

I wonder if this means there also will not be any entertainment at all? ...meaning the guitar picker fellas. I liked them.

So does that mean that Woody and jesse become walking characters again. Also, people won't have to pay to meet them?

Re: Celebration Roundup & BBQ to no longer be a Character Dining Meal

This is the report from the other website:

"It looks like Woody, Jessie and Bullseye will be hittin' the dusty trail after Wednesday of next week, and the Big Thunder Ranch Celebration Roundup & Barbecue will no longer be a Character Dining venue when it opens Thursday. (Dates may change slightly, but that's the current schedule)

Jessie and Woody will return to meet and greet appearances in Frontierland, where they will be more accessible to park visitors. The Barbecue will no longer offer photo packages, though the photo backdrop will likely remain in place for those who want to snap their own pictures, and PhotoPass staff may be on hand during busy days.

The restaurant will still offer live entertainment from Miss Chris, Sasparilla Sam and Tex Tumbleweed throughout the day.

The only unknown is price. Character meals command a higher price, so Disney is likely to drop the price of the barbecue once the characters depart, but the new pricing is not finalized."

a la carte would be nice but keep in mind what a la carte means to disneyland's food department these days though(riverbelle terrace r.i.p.). You can get whatever you want but you'll be required to get a side item justifying the price being overpriced for both the food item and the side item making the combination a big overpriced jumble of disney.

I'm glad to hear the entertainers will still be there. One of them is a friend of a friend and would have hated to hear he had lost his job.

On the 17th Farley the fiddler said that Bullseye was leaving and we got to talking about the changes. I did not get up there and will not be able to make it for a final meal there before they change. There goes my birthday plans.
