That's a third plus. With Knott's and now Universal entering the Halloween "craze" Disneyland must do something to compete during this time period. This is why they are adding so much more to their Halloween season this year. This is also why they shouldn't have an overlay to BTMRR. The locals all know about Knott's. And a BTMRR overlay would look too weak as far as the ordinary local is concerned.

I'm keeping an open mind for now. I reserve the right to pan it if the execution of this idea sucks.

As long as the projections and other effects are Disney caliber and not like the coaster portion of USH's Revenge of the Mummy, I'm willing to give it a try despite a bias towards standard Space Mountain.

The idea of ghosts in space goes back a long way. Well at least back to 1966...

But seriously, the idea of the temporary Ghost Galaxy overlay doesn't bother me. I think it might be fun.

The funny part is that, come Halloween, Space Mountain will be more Halloween-ish than the Haunted Mansion will be.

Really? "Crappiest?" You're going with "Crappiest" on this one?

So because Space Mountain is gonna have a Halloween theme for about a month, all of Disneyland is now a worse place to hang out than the DMV?

    Weak sauce.

Re: Flagrant Theme Violation - Halloween Ghost Galaxy at Space Mountain!

Halloween Ghost Galaxy... from all videos and feedback regarding the Hong Kong attraction... is a much better attraction the Rockin' Space Mountain. It's a night & day difference. The biggest being that it's IN THE DARK, as Rockin' Space Mountain was so bright that it made the ride's extremely slow speed become as obvious as the fans blowing wind in your face.

Plus, the change will only be about a month, which is much less then Tim Burton's annual Haunted Mansion takeover (which I really do feel should be every OTHER year so the locals don't get burned out on it).

Anyhow, the Haunted Space Mountain is really cool with some neat effects, and I'm really happy we're getting it.

Re: Flagrant Theme Violation - Halloween Ghost Galaxy at Space Mountain!

How is it a theme violation?

Can you prove that there are no ghosts in space? Maybe in the future no ghosts exist or its proven they never did?

Seriously get off your high horse and enjoy it for what it is.

And as you said yourself, you won't even be there! So why do you care?

There is nothing wrong with sprucing up an attraction for a specific holiday. Especially if your competition does it.

I agree with timbabbcomedian. If you look at the park as "The Crappiest Place on Earth" then why would you subject yourself to all the apparent crap in your opinion that the park has to offer by visiting it? Because something tells me that eventhough you feel that way about the park for some strange reason your still going to go arent you?

No, in fact Prag has made it very clear that he does not patronize the park:

Regardless, the tired "If you don't like it, don't go" line is not a valid argument.

Amen. The same bogus "Disneyland, love it or leave it" argument was flung on this thread.

When someone posts how much they love Disneyland, nobody protests, "Oh, yeah? If you love it so much, why aren't you visiting more?" Yet the "if you don't like it, why are you going?" argument is tossed into virtually every thread that criticizes Disney.

It's an ad hominem argument that attempts to squelch only one class of opinions -- those that are negative to Disney.
