The Cinderella carriage at the end was a very nice touch. It just goes around the block, but it topped off a wonderful event. This was if fact, the only Disney themed item in the whole ceremony. They wanted to be married by Mickey Mouse, but DL doesn't allow any characters at the weddings.

I don't know what it cost, the brides family paid for it. I heard it was around $30K, but that's just what I heard. I paid for the reception ($1400), and the minister ($200). We're all from northern Nevada and central Oregon, there were about 60 people.

The only negative thing I can think about it is I'm a single dad with a 15 year old daughter who talks occasionally of her own future DL wedding. Guess I'd best start saving!

Wow, what a great father they have!

See again, a wedding that size of 60 I couldnt get away with! I know way too many people, so DL would be out of the question I already know. Its nice to hear all these wonderful stories though. Thats weird how they wouldnt allow any characters when youre paying that kind of money!!!!

It looked like the spot could hold about 200, but it'd be a bit cozy! Heck, it's DL, it's supposed to be crowded, right? lol.

I didn't check them out, but I get the impression that there's more than one wedding spot. With only 60 people, it'd make sense if we got the small one.

Sort of personal, but about 3 years before the wedding my wife of 25 years passed away. I don't know if this was planned or not, but one of the sweetest things I've ever seen was at the actual wedding (not the rehersal) when I was escorted to my seat, someone had placed a single rose in the seat next to mine, obviously in rememberance of her. I felt it was a very thoughtful gesture. A few times I thought if I looked over real quick, I could see her sitting there. lol.

Sort of a cute side note; When the wedding was done, all of us spent the rest of the day at DL. My dad (72) can hardly walk anymore. Him walking 100 yards is about like any of the rest of us walking several miles.

We got him one of those electric wheelchairs, and being July, the park was crowded. My mom, dad, me, and my 14 year old daughter were going around to the rides together when my mom said to me and my daughter, 'If you two want to go by yourselves, go ahead. We don't want to hold you up.'

As you know, wheelchairs by-pass a lot of the lines. My daughter had obviously figured this out by now, her response was 'No way, I've discovered the power of the wheelchair!'

We all laughed so hard, our sides hurt!

Yeahhhh. I read somewhere that you have to have a "minimum" that you pay, and regular weddings are like $10,000. I could be mistaken but I'm pretty sure I read the castle as being $75,000. Plus you can't use any outside vendors, so Disney does your catering, your flowers, pretty much everything.
Not to mention if you have your reception in the park as well, then it's tons more money.
But I could be very wrong, it's just what I've heard, afterall.

And anyway, I think that if you love Disneyland enough, like most people on this site, then it's all worth the money in the end.

I would have given anything to have my reception at the DLR. However, it was really not in our budget(moved across country 2 days after getting married).

If you want to get married at DL or WDW here is what I suggest:

Start saving early. Well, ok that is true for ANY wedding, even a simple wedding like i had you need to plan ahead. Weddings are not cheap.

Contact Disney early. As with any venue, dates fill quickly and while Disney can handle multiple weddings, they likely have a limit on how many they book per day.

I am so sad I missed Sunnygirl and Anders wedding. If you are ever invited to a wedding at Disney make it a priority to go.

It is incredibly expensive. We got engaged in front of Sleeping Beautys Castle, so everyone assumes we will have a Disneyland wedding. Its over $35,000 and to do it in the park it now has to be AFTER HOURS. I dont want a 1am ceremony! You can get married at the DLH or GCH much cheaper. But that just isnt the same!

Here is the response I got from them when I emailed, before we went in and had an actual appointment with them.

Our Ceremony isn't at 1am, it's at 930pm, pretty much as soon as they can get all the guests out of the park we go in. Reception is at 1015-1115 (we'll be going around doing photos) then dinner right after. All in all we have to be out of the park by 3am. You can get better information on some of the other Disney message boards about all the weddings.

I suppose it would depend on the closing time of the park as well.
Saturdays are 11pm so we couldnt get in until later.

Wow, thanks for passing on all that information! I've actually looked at the Rose Court Garden, and I am not a big fan of that area, esp for the price! I mean the only Disney thing they have are Mickey and his friends shaped bushes. I am sure it would look beautiful once Disney places all the flowers etc around there, but other than that I wouldnt have it there.

Thats crazy that'd you have to wait after hours to have your wedding! What "dream come true" is that?!!! (Sorry, just a little shocked to hear that they'd only offer after hours....) Anyway congrats on your engagement And I mean even if you couldnt have your wedding at DLAND how romantic is that, that you were proposed infront of the castle! AAwwww, what a guy!

He is a sweetie for sure! And "the mouse" is right, there is information on other message boards. I just read that it is a $75,000 MINIMUM to have your wedding in front of the castle with a Disneyland reception also. No thanks! I would rather not start out in debt, not a great way to begin a new life together!!

When you think about it having the park closed for just your wedding party would be really romantic, the castle would look absouletly beautiful and you could even have fireworks too! Okay this is way too much of a fairytale but whatever.. it'd be so romantic!
