Arrow Which Disneyland Resort Attraction Is In MOST Need Of A Complete Refurbishment?

Hello all of you out there in MiceChatland...

One of my top 5 favorite attractions at The Disneyland Resort is Indiana Jones And The Temple Of The Forbidden Eye. The amazing fire effects, the rolling boulder, the huge snake, and of course "Bones" make for one crazy and fun attraction. It has been open for over a decade and is starting to show its age. (Which is funny since it's MEANT to look old - but I digress.) I have read stories on here and other websites of the attraction breaking down and many evacuations having to happen. There are effects that don't work, haven't worked for many years, or that are bound to go down eventually.

With the above said which Disneyland Resort attraction do you believe is in the MOST need of a complete overhaul - a complete refurbishment? Do you agree with me that "Indy" is the winner or is there a different attraction that is more deserving of major TLC?

(Poll coming along shortly!)

<Joe>

Indy for sure, only due to the fact that a major refurbishment would most likely fix the broken effects and possbily add a few new ones as well.

1) Autopia or Subs (for removing Nemo)
2) HISTA (removal of HISTA)
3) Innoventions (again removal/reworking)

Indiana Jones is constantly breaking down. Rather than just fixing the few little things that go wrong multiple times a day, they need to just close the ride for a few months and do a refurb.

Indy definitely needs to be refurbished. On my last ride the audio broke down, the jeep randomly stalled, the boulder didn't roll... It's my favorite ride, but it really needs to be spruced up.

I get what most of you are saying about Indy. It needs to be closed for about a month and rework the technical problems.
What about major changes though?
HISTA needs to be changed. And I think the classic matterhorn could be changed a bit (perhaps add a soundtrack, more special effects, maybe rework the track design)
Autotopia needs help, but I think Disney knows this already.

Indiana Jones definetly. It always breaks down. I also wouldn't mind if they updated Soarin over California either. I would want them to just uodate the Disneyland scene.

I, too, said Indy. But the Matterhorn could use some smoothing over also.

Re: Which Disneyland Resort Attraction Is In MOST Need Of A Complete Refurbishment?

I guess it depends on what you mean by "complete" or "major" refurbishment. I read the topic and immediately thought of HISTA first and foremost, but I took misunderstood and thought it was more about which attraction needs to be replaced with something completely new. (BTW, it wouldn't surprise me if they're secretly planning some kind of TRON attraction for that location.)

But, given how Indy breaks down a lot, it is likely in need of the most TLC. Just so long as it's not closed for 3 years like Space was.

Indy needs upgrades more than a simple refurbishment. We need to see new state of the art special effects because Indy is rapidly looking outdated. Ideally they should close the attraction for 6 months and relaunch it as a brand new experience.

Re: Which Disneyland Resort Attraction Is In MOST Need Of A Complete Refurbishment?

I'm not personally looking at removals here, because I would look at that more as creating a new attraction instead of just getting a refurbishment.

I voted for Indy as well. There is always something off - it needs some serious TLC. I'll list some things that I think need fixing here.

1) Mara's eyes in the Chamber of Destiny used to be far more dramatic. The smoke really doesn't come out anymore. Make it smoke again, and maybe add some more dramatic lighting.

2) Re-imagine the bug and rat room sequences. I'm happy that Disney tries to upkeep the rat projection fairly often, but both are obviously showing their age. Maybe at least replace the projectors with stronger digital ones. Maybe throw in those foot ticklers that were originally going to be put into the jeeps before the budget cuts came in (if it can be done without having to get brand new jeeps).

3) Falling lava/rock machine. It was cool.

4) The Mara scrim demon. I'm not entirely sure how this effect was actually supposed to work - I can't remember what it looked like when the attraction first opened. But at this point I always look at it and am a little confused.

5) The air dart room is mostly cool, but I can't understand why these evil skeletons are painted on these flats along with it, and that you get out of it when the flats are split apart like swinging doors. This isn't the most desperate area needing work, but I think it could be better somehow.

6) Recently, the rolling ball effect has not been working right. I'm not entirely sure what it is that's off, but just get it fixed!

7) Poor, poor final Indy AA. He gets the shakes a lot. Maybe replace his interior workings with more modern AA stuff so that he's a little more consistent.

Some of these things have not been fixed because the excuse comes up that walls or roofs would need to be ripped out or taken apart to fix them. I'm sorry, but that's not good enough of an excuse. WDI is fully capable of creating a new way to make these effects work, and this time ensure that whatever machinery they need can be easily accessed for fixing.

Re: Which Disneyland Resort Attraction Is In MOST Need Of A Complete Refurbishment?

I'd say indy, it really is looking dated. Upgrade the effects and the preshow slideshow. I wouldn't mind seeing the Haunted Mansion getting some TLC though either. It certainly needs it, to fix leota and the prides face, and maybe an upgraded caretaker.
