Re: When You'd Swear the Magic Was Real

Toy Story came out with I was a kid, and as soon as I saw it, it instantly became my favorite movie. It was actually my favorite movie for probably my entire childhood, I loved that movie for a really long time. Anyway, Buzz and Woody used out hang out in Tomorrowland, and I remember the first time I met them as a child. I hung out with them for a long time, telling them all about school and how much I loved their movie and had their toys, etc. etc. I was there talking to them forever, and finally my dad decided it was time to give them a break and move on to something else. Sadly, I told them goodbye and we moved over to the Rocket Jets (you know, when it was on the Peoplemover). While on my rocket with my dad, I looked down at where Buzz and Woody were, and to my surprise and joy they were still standing there watching me and waving at me. I thought that was really magical for me. My favorite characters didn't just leave me as soon as I left them, they stuck around and made sure I was having a good time. I really appreciate that.

Also, I only vaguely remember this but my dad has told me this story several times. I'm tall, and I've always been rather tall for my age. When I was about two or three years old I wanted to go on EVERY ride. Every time I saw one of those "you must be this tall to ride...." signs, I would go running up to it, only to be slightly too short. Well, the next day, I had decided to wear different shoes for some reason. So, the first ride with a height requirement we approached that day was Space Mountain. I guess in my 2/3 year old mind I was convinced that I would magically grow and be able to ride the "big" rides. When I saw Space Mountain I ran up to the height measurement. My dad knew I was too short so he tried to call me back so I wouldn't be disappointed, but to his surprise they let me on the ride! Apparently, the shoes I wore that day were slightly taller, allowing me to go on the "big" rides.

that's so sweet of them! it's wonderful what a different pair of shoes can do when in disneyland be it make you taller or something more comfy after all the walking lol. Well I remembered another magical moment. I was on the Mark Twain and the train was passing by. The Mark Twain made the sound with the whistle like "doo doo do do doo" and the train replied with their whistle "doo doo!" (I hope you understand the tune Im trying to say). I thought how wonderful it was that they had found a way to communicate just with their whistles . That also reminds me of the multiple times that I have been lucky enough to be asked to go to the very top of the Mark Twain and sign my name in the guestbook, and my goodness what a view there is up there! Its so cool how much different the view is with just a level higher up. Has anyone else ever had the chance to be up there and pull the whistle too?

Alice, pretty little Alice, pretty little Alice in Wonderland.

Alice in wonderland, won't you take me by the hand,
and lead me to your wonderland of love.

I took one look at you, and that was all I had to do,
Alice, you're the girl I'm dreamin of.

    Tweedle dum, tweedle dee,
you have made my life a fantasy.
You don't know what you're doing to me,
    my heart goes pitter patter
‘cause I'm mad as a hatter for

Alice, my little girl, there is no other in this whole wide world,
take me by the hand, tell me you understand,
    Alice, Alice in wonderland

Oh Alice, pretty little Alice, pretty little Alice in wonderland.

Re: When You'd Swear the Magic Was Real

okay, I have another story. This past July 4th was my son's magical 18th birthday. He wanted to spend it at Disneyland. We went and had a great day. During the parade the CMs that were in the parade dancing pulled our family into the parade and we were all dancing. We got to do the twist and went back to our spot. A few minutes later they pulled us into the gonga line. Alittle bit later they gave my son a drum to play along. He was in his glory. He loves Disneyland. After the dancing when we got back to our spot Mickey Mouse on the float pointed to him as if to wish him a happy birthday. He was wearing his Celebrates pin, his Happy Birthday pin, and his Just Graduated pin with his Graduation ears hot. Those CM's made his 18th birthday a real memorable one for us all. The magic is never left out anytime we visit.

Re: When You'd Swear the Magic Was Real

Ooooh! I remember another one…So, it was my first time on Turtle Talk with Crush and I was super excited b/c I am a huge Pixar fan and had heard loads about the awesome technology. Now, while I had the urge to sit with the “little dudes” down in front, I decided to be a (gasp! So hard to say it…) "grown-up" and sit in the seats. I had hopes of talking to Crush but wasn’t really sure how it all worked.

So, the show progressed and eventually Crush asked if any of the human dudes in the seats liked to swim. I most definitely do, and raised my hand. My sister was being a stinker and wouldn’t raise her hand, so I was wildly grasping at her arm trying to force it into the air. Evidently, this caught the eye of Crush who asked his buddy with the microphone if he could talk to the human dudette in white. That dudette was me!

The first thing he said to me was, “Wow, you’re pretty cute for a human chick.” I laughed it off and our little conversation went on to the topics of swimming and sunglasses (Evidently, Crush and I “shared a moment” when he put his shades on.) Now usually Crush will talk to a person for about a minute and move on.
But Crush contintued to talk to me THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE SHOW! I was cracking up because he would, for example, say a joke to one person and then be like “Oh Brittni, you can totally look that up its true!” But the icing on the cake was when Crush said goodbye and, while swimming off-screen, yelled back “Bye Brittni!!” Needless to say, my family makes fun of me to this day about Crush having a “crush” on me. Well I guess you could say this is a magical thing to me. It was two Christmas ago 2007. I had on my Christmas Tigger hat and I was at Princess Fantasy Faire when it was my turn to see Cinderella she had see me with my Tigger Christmas hat and she had ask me if she could try it on. I told her sure she could so I took off my hat and Cinderella had put it on her head. Then she had ask me and the photopass guy if she wears it to the entest to Disneyland if anybody would know it was her. All 3 of us said na it wouldn't work. I wanted a picture of her with it on but she said no it looks better on you so she gave it back to me. To me that was a speacil magic to me to have Cinderella trying something on that I had.

My husband and I love taking our 1 year old to Disneyland and watching her discover the park a little bit at a time. One time, when she was about 10 months old we took her to DCA and went to see Turtle Talk with Crush. Since we hadn't taken her to a show in a dark room before, we sat near the back and away from as many people as possible, in case she started to cry and we needed to make a swift exit. As soon as it started she was glued to Crush. She followed his every move and kept pointing at him and smiling. The part came where Crush asks for the humans who like to swim to raise their hands and sure enough our little one raised her hand straight above her head. Clearly she doesn't know how to swim, but if Crush had asked her to she certainly would have tried!

Re: When You'd Swear the Magic Was Real

Ok, so this story isn't about a character interaction or anything, but it's still pretty darn neat. So I was on the Maliboomer the other night at around 9. The Electrical Parade had already started and was halfway down the parade route when we launched. As we hit the top, I look out across the empty lagoon and see this beautiful panorama of light and color and I was awestruck. Just as we head into the slow half-bounces, I look far off to the right and see Tinkerbelle in her balloon turn around to face the parade, and then she flicked her wand. As you probably know, one of the enhancements to the parade was Tink's "Pixie Dust" trail attached to each float. Well I followed her wand and watched the bright lights of her spell travel down the entire parade succession clear across the breadth of the lagoon and down the rest of the route into the staging area backstage. At that moment, I was hit with a wave of unexpected emotion with thoughts of the history of the parade, the concept, the beauty, the timelessness, the outright joy of this truly unique celebration of lights and sounds. It was an absolutely profound experience that I don't think will ever happen again. Needless to say, that was one of the more interesting Maliboomer rides I've ever had.....

Re: When You'd Swear the Magic Was Real

A little over a year ago my boyfriend then (husband now) talked me into waiting in the line at Mickey's house to see Mickey... It was our prime riding time of the day, so I was a little grumpy about having to wait 30 min to take a picture... but when we got to the front of the line, right as we were about to take the picture, he got down on one knee and proposed! It was very magical! Of course I said yes, and we had a Cinderella themed wedding a year later!

There is no way I'm letting this thread die a horribly premature death...so I'll share another story and hope more people add on.

One of the best things I've ever gotten from Disneyland is my friends. I knew my friend Leanne off of youtube and had talked to her quite a lot before I actually met her. Then there was a day where we were going to the park the same time, so we met up. We hung out for quite awhile and just had fun together, and then continued to meet up on future trips. Then one day her friend Lizzi, SkeletonStockings, came to see her, and about a month later Lizzi and I became great friends. Over time we had chance encounters with so many people that have become great friends. So Disneyland has helped me find some of the most amazing people in the world.

Re: When You'd Swear the Magic Was Real

Our first trip was 3 years ago when my girls were 3 and 7. The first thing we did on the first day was hop on the Disneyland Railroad to go to Toon Town (as suggested in all of the travel books who neglected to inform that it opens later than the rest of the park). We were all sitting and a CM asked the girls if they were having a good morning, if this was their first visit, and if they were having fun. The girls were wide-eyed and squirmy with excitement and answered yes, they were having a good morning, and the CM leaned in and whispered, "Its about to get a lot better", and winked at them. That set the tone for the whole day, and it really was a good one.

On our second trip last spring, my little one (then 5) wore her Cinderella dress to the park on our last day, and met Cinderella at the PFF. Cinderella dropped to her knees and was pinching her cheeks and poking her nose and playing with her hair, telling her how beautiful she looked in her dress, and then got up and was twirling and dancing with her, stopping to pose for pictures, and chatting up a storm. THAT was so much more than we expected!

Those are definetly magical moments for my kids.

The cutest things always happen when little girls come dressed up as characters. If a girl comes up to Alice dressed as her, she will always get special attention. It will always be "You look just like me! Have you seen a white rabbit? You should watch out for him." and just a lot of talking.

    Always adorable.
