BTW, you can find Magic Journeys in two parts on youtube ... the video isn't that great, and keep in mind it is very 80's ... but if you're interested. :P
Thanks! I watched them and I would definitely agree that the soundtrack was very nicely written. The video itself was a little hard to determine (just because the camera can't wear 3-D glasses and the video was shot from the back of the room), but from what I did see it was nice.

Put a big celebrity in anything nowadays and it's bound to bring in larger crowds. Look at POTC!

(Well, I guess you can't say that about Superstar Limo, though :-p)

Haha ... well I would think they just chose poorly on that one.

Both Michael Jackson and Johnny Depp have more star-drawing power individually than Regis, Cher, Whoopi and Tim Allen combined.

just to point out, the show did play in tokyo in 1985 till 1986. Tokyo's theater has had the most films, first The Eternal Sea then Magic Journeys than Captain EO and currently MicroAdventure! AKA HISTA. Eternal Sea was not in 3-D.

I really liked it; it was the first time I had ever seen really good 3D movie effects. The music is a little cheezy but I love it!

I was very disappointed with EO and missed Magic Journeys...

So I'm the only person who saw this and thought it was lame?

Perhaps it is because I saw it at the Magic Kingdom and had already seen Captain EO which was easily 100 times better than Magic Journeys was.

They did show a Chip and Dale / Donald Duck cartoon as a preshow in 3-D which was much better than the cheesy feature presentation.

I don't remember seeing it at Disneyland. I do know it was originally done for the Imagination pavilion in EPCOT. When it was in Disneyland's Tomorrowland, they had to enclose the Space Stage to create the Magic Eye Theater. It was pretty much a place holder as Captain EO and Star Tours were meant to debut together.

I used to have a cassette and Magic Journeys theme was on it. It was a great song.

It was one of the first attractions I was trained on back in '84. It was reasonably popular and had a pretty good audience for most shows. I didn't particularly like working it as the shifts started so late as they had to wait until it got a little darker to start it since the Space Mountain stage was still open.

It was actually at the back of the theater. There was a projection room behind the back wall behind the audience. You had to signal the projection operator when to start the movie. Since there was a slight delay, you had to time your spiel in just the right way, otherwise you'd stand there with nothing to say, waiting for the film to start.

I do remember the guys who operated the projector weren't attractions "hosts" though. I'm not even sure what department they were part of. Perhaps A-V department?

    I don't remember.

And thanks, DL_Craze for posting that link. Hearing that song again after 25 years was a trip! Some major memories there.
