All this talk of crowds is making me curious...

Now that Space Mountain is open and Fast Pass machines are being removed, do you notice any remarkable difference in the way the park FEELS?

I haven't been in over a year and the last time we did visit, the walkways were so clogged by 10 or 11 each day that it just wasn't much fun the rest of the day.
With more rides open and people waiting in line instead of walking around with a Fast Pass in their hands, do you think the park FEELS less crowded even on heavy attendance days?

This is by far, the best "crowds" thread I've seen all day.

Good question... it's been difficult to notice because of the high season, which tends to make every day feel super busy, followed by special events on the weekend. I guess the next 2 or 3 weekends will tell.

Space Mountain's opening should dissipate the rest of the crowd at DL. that is, IF it's operating at capacity, say, 2000 guests per hour, AND all those guests were waiting in a, say, one hour line. That would be, say, 2000 guests in line and off the walkways. Not even including the guests riding Space Mountain, which we'll say might be another 100 or so (up to 144, according to fan sites).

Unfortunately, some of those 2000 or so waiting for Space Mountain when there is an hour wait are not in line.

I don't know which FastPass machines have been removed recently, so I cannot comment on that. Some in DCA are turned off, but those aren't affecting DL anyway, except for those guests with DCA fastpasses hanging out in DL.

Star Tours has had its fastpass removed most recently. It is finally off the maps as a fastpass location. Hopefully that means the machines will be removed soon. Also removed were winnie the pooh, small world holiday, haunted mansion, and pirates.

These were not very recent. Not even within the last year, I believe.
Star Tours is pretty recent. I saw the machines (covered) in June.

it feels the same...the walkways are all clogged up by noon...and it just hates intolerable at night....I ahve noticed it doesn't vother me as much, btu I thik it's because I can only go on weekends now and I'm just used to it....

I thought the HM Fastpass was still there but only open during Oct-Dec for the overlay? These rides are not very busy and dont NEED a fastpass.

My friends went on this past Sunday and said that Disneyland was not at all crowded. I am going Saturday, so I will let you know how it is then.

What?! Noooooo! The last time I was there at Christmas SWH was so swamped that when I managed to literally get THE LAST 3 fastpass tickets for it several people tried to steal them from me.
