Restore the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse?

So I was just reading about a 2012 release of a new Swiss Family Robinson movie. Being one of my favorite movies (and i'm sure a classic in others' eyes too), i'd LOVE to see disneyland take the tarzan treehouse in adventureland and restore it to the Swiss Family state.
I know they've renovated rides for upcoming films in the past, but has disney ever restored one?
I don't really spend much time in the Tarzan Treehouse during my visits- but does any feel itd be a real loss to change this attraction?

That is the big problem. Not a lot of people do spend time in the tree house. It is not a major attraction. Why would Disney spend all that money to bring back an attraction that was never popular in the first place. I love the tree house, in which ever form. I see it as one of those little extras at the park that makes Disneyland special. Not every single thing needs to be a $100 million E Ticket. But I doubt if Disney would spend a few million dollars to bring the tree house back.

i don't much remember the swiss family treehouse, and I do enjoy the tarzan treehouse for what it is. personally, the only thing that I would love is a slide from all the way up. I've always thought that would be a great idea to get down from the tree.

The treehouse pulls through pretty good numbers.
Although I wish the Swiss Family Treehouse could have lasted, the appeal
of a Tarzan attraction in Adventureland was too good to pass up. It brought with it a complete structural upgrade and safety improvements, as well as a more visible (yet traffic-blocking) entrance.

While I would love to see the SFT brought back, unless Disney makes a new version of Swiss Family Robenson, I don't see it happening. There isn't many younger people that have any connection to the book or the 1960 movie and it would be lost on them. Tarzan does still have a connection with people as it is only about 10 yeard old. I also agree that Disney wouldn't spend the money on it.

Why must every attraction be based on a movie?!

I've always seen Tarzan as the perfect example of overdoing something... I honestly feel they could do a great deal more by having a great deal less. The basic thought was to remove the characters and modern technology. Then add in props to each room that could be attributed to Tarzan or Swiss. The problem is that Tarzan lacks the "rooms" that Swiss had... and it would be a construction nightmare to try to add them.

In the end you would end up with a treehouse walkthrough that would relate to both adults and children. Adults would feel it was the Swiss Treehouse. Kids would feel it was Tarzan's Treehouse... in reality it would be a mix of the two.

As completely, utterly ludicrous is it may sound, some people--even kids--enjoyed the treehouse for what it was without having seen the movie or read the book!

I know, incredibly difficult to believe, but absolutely true! [/sarcasm]

Just be glad they're not changing it over to the Swiss Family Jonas Treehouse!
As nice as the other parks are, we must always remember that it all began at Disneyland. Disneyland should be the crown jewel in the Disney crown.

Well, first off the majority of the buildings are from the original treehouse, so that is one constant reminder. A hidden hint, if you will, would be the gramaphone on the ground level at the bottom of the last flight of stairs by the hand-cranked animation. The gramaphone plays the "Swisskapolka" which is almost the theme of the Swiss Family Robinsons, The Swisskapolka is the song she plays on the piano during the Christmas ance in the movie.

That was a thread I saw when I first signed up. It caught my attention because I had just been asking myself before I ever encountered this site why Disneyland has turned so movie heavy if Walt did some attractions without the influence of HIS OWN movies. I know that it will a good while before another person with that much imagination comes along that suits Disneyland's intentions, but I would like some new attraction to come about without the need of a contemporary movie tie-in

Yes yes yes. I hated it when they made it into Tarzans tree house. I love this movie and loved going into the SFR tree house as a kid. I would spend an hour up there easy.

They should just bulldoze the whole thing... and put a playground there.

Disney is making a new version. Somehow I doubt it'll be something you'd want represented in the parks, though.
