    Re: Indiana Jones Ride

I actually don't mind the current setup. FastPass usually allows me to bypass the exterior queue for the most part, which is fine because all I really need is a glimpse, and then I can work my way through much of the interior at a pace that works for me. I often let other people go around me so I can move a little more slowly, soak it all in...then I have to slow down near the end of the queue, where the other people accumulate, but that's okay. There's still enough immersive detail there to keep my attention.

Let me preface this to say I'm not doubting you at all, just have a question.

Did they change this at some point in time, or, is there dated materials with this name? The original press release always said Maraglyphics ... but I do think Marabic is a better name!

i remember deciphering the message over the drinking fountain and it had said something to the effect of "drinking from the wellspring of life" made me chuckle!

Did it? I'd always seen it as Marabic, but a quick scouring of the Internet turns up use of both terms. Go figure!

This is yet another example of Disney purposely disseminating misinformation to keep fans in perpetual disagreement, and to further conversation on message boards.

    Re: Indiana Jones Ride

All of this was gleaned from multiple websites over the years. Each site had some but not all of the translations. I compiled all of it into one word document. This was saved on a previous HD that has since crashed. I am not sure which translations came from which sites. I know of at least one site that is no longer online. I made an attempt to track them down but I was unable to find http listings in my notes. If you know which site any of this came from please let me know so I can credit them accordingly.

    Digs/Ramp

    Stone #1
(Located at the foot of the ramp, hidden in the leaves.)
This stone has a bas-relief carving depicting a large eye, flanked on each side by a cobra. Underneath is this inscription: If you dare to look into the eyes of Mara you shall be incinerated (Identical on Stone #5 at the top of the ramp)

Stone #2 holds a bas-belief of the "Gates of Doom", with The Gates of Doom inscribed beneath to identify the picture. (There is an identical stone located at the unload area at Jungle Cruise) Stone #'s 3 & 4 have no inscription.

    Temple Entrance

    Beware the eye of Mara

(Above the entrance to the temple, outside.)

Look not into the eye of Mara and you shall receive the gift of eternal youth earthly riches or future knowledge
(Around the top of the first room -- the "Entry Temple," the north wall of which bears the "Mural of Mara"

It is forbidden to pass beyond this chamber without a servant of
Mara to guide your p(ath) Heed this warning or risk incurring the wrath of Mara for doom awaits the unbeliever in the darkness beyond.
(A wall reading at a bend in the passageway, just past the entry temple.)

    Obelisk Room

Detail of the letters follow, given by semi-standard XY coordinates, with 1,1 being the upper-left brick on any given wall. (e.g. 1,6 would be the first brick from the left in the sixth row down.) Measurements of a wall are in bricks. (e.g. 4X2 bricks would be four bricks across and two down.)
There are three walls in this room:

The wall between the entrance and the open left fork: (4X7)
    3,2 SB 1,3 JB 3,4 SD
    2,5 S 4,5 B
    3,7 M 4,7 D

The wall between the entrance and the collapsed right fork: (4X7)
    1,1 C 4,1 H
    1,2 N 3,2 R
    1,3 RE 2,3 L

The secret door wall, between the two branch passages: (10X7, columns 5&6 indented into the wall. Column 0 is the hallway side of column 1.)
    1,1 J 2,1 Q 3,1 JJ 7,1 F 9,1 DA
    1,2 S 2,2 J 5,2 J
    0,3 V 1,3 FW 2,3 JS 3,3 S 4,3 SL 6,3 LJ 7,3 SL
    0,4 (see below) 2,4 TB 5,4 EL 7,4 D(?)
Brick 7,4's letter is thought to be a "D", but is unclear.
Brick 0,4 (hallway side of 1,4) is not apparently a normal letter -- it looks like an apostrophe, but I'm not sure.

    The flooded maze

    Only the blind shall see.
(Another wall reading, over a picture of a face with closed eyes, next to an opening leading to an unexplored area of the maze. I believe this text & painting represents the gift of future knowledge.)

    Earthly riches
(Wall reading above a statuette. Represents the second of Mara's gifts.)

Only one spring can restore youth and vigor.
    Choose wisely.
Drink deeply the water of life.
The first two lines are found on the wall above two fountains. Between these two lines is a small painting of a pouring pitcher. The third is on the wall to the right of the fountains, which one passes when the fountains come into view

    MM (Hidden Mickey)

    Bamboo Canyon

The eye of Mara sees deceit.
    (right wall above large depression)

The eye of Mara never sleeps.
    (left wall)

Look not with your eyes but with your heart.
    (right wall)

Fortune favors the pure of heart.
    (left wall)

    Bat Cave & Spike Room

    Beware the deadly booby traps
    that lie beyond the hidden
    passage.............(rab)id bats
    pois(oned...)............lead
    to death...........(eter)nal doom
    Mara.....................wealth
    evil.................(wo)uld quit
    as.......................eye
    kill.....................o jammed
    spikes...................desire
    you......................virtue
(Letters in parentheses in these texts indicate those that have been dug through and have been guessed)

True rewards await those who choose wisely
(Reference to when it was sponsored by AT&T but also ties into the Last Crusade Movie. Written on the wall off to the right of the above text.)

The gates of doom are ever open
(Around the edge of the stone disc)

    Rotunda

    Plow the fields
    Plant the seed
    Reap the harvest
    Grind it to meal
(Each of these four lines are written on one corner of the stone calendar)

The pure of heart are protected beneath the watchful eye of Mara.
Woe to the unworthy who pass beneath.
(Written across the middle of the same stone.)

    Film Room

    Behold the gifts of Mara
(Chiseled into the stone below the resting place of three stone tablets, each of which depicts a different one of Mara's gifts. The tablets read as follows.)

    The observatory of the future
Behold the amulet of Mara and you
shall see visions of the future
But beware the eyes of Mara
    (Lower left tablet.)

    The fountain of eternal youth
One sip from the eternal spring shall
    renew vigor and youthful spirit
But beware the eyes of Mara
    (Lower right tablet.)

    The chamber of earthly riches
Wealth beyond your wildest imagination lies
within and is yours for the taking
But beware the eyes of Mara
    (Upper tablet.)

    Unload & Upstairs

Only the pure of heart shall gain admittance into the chamber of destiny
(A wall reading as you near Sallah's jeeps.)

Mara shall guide you through the doorway of your most secret
desire in the chamber of destiny
    (Another wall reading, upstairs)

    Exit

    Beware the eye of Mara
One look will lead through the tunnel
of torment to the gates of doom
(A wall reading at the jeep area, as you step out. Always the optimist, I guess.)

    Re: Indiana Jones Ride

Sorry to "double up" but I was able to track down my old post with additional information... as some of you know I actually tried to bring the decoder cards back to Indy. I found this while looking on some dusty corners of Micechat.

    Indy Queue Enhancements

I had to do a little digging and some uploading but I found the concept that was pitched to management and handed out for a short time. I edited a previous post because I wanted these to be together. It would have been printed on tan paper. These are low rez because I didn't want to post anything huge on here.

I wasn't a big fan of the scarab beetle and the cobra, felt they should have been dressed up a little more, but management liked them the way they were. Anyhow this is what it was. Doubt they hand them out anymore. Also found one of the stickers, there were three versions this was the last one.
    I also dug up this
I was cleaning out one of my CM folders and came across a list one of my Indy leads made. Here are the cars, and those they are named after
    1. JS1228 John Stone
    2. DE0515 David Edminster
    3. GL0514 George Lucas
    4. BW0508 Bill Wolf
    5. DY0726 Don Young
    6. RE0710 Ron Esposito
    7. DT0216 David Todd
    8. TL0315 Ted Lamoureaus
    9. EF1003 Ed Fritz
    10. TB0201 Tony Baxter
    11. CW0420 Chris Wagner
    12. CS0715 Cindy Shulstad
    13. BB0525 Bob Baranick
    14. CB1121 Charles Ballew
    15. DD0416 Dave Durham
    16. SL0330 Skip Lange
    17. IC0199 Indy Crew

The numbers for the first 16 are birth month/date for #17 it is month/year that car was "made" by the Indy Maintenance Crew. I was wondering if anyone knows the names of those in the Obelisk Room. I know one of them is Frank Wells.

    ------------Edit------------
    Found this http://www.geocities.com/thetropics/.../graffiti.html

TB - Tony Baxter, Sr. VP, WDI Creative Development
    MD - Marc Davis
    FW - Frank Wells
SB - Susan Bonds; WDI Show Producer (the s is only painted on the bottom)
SL - Skip Lange, WDI Show Director

These are the only names mentioned, the rest is a bunch of letters with the basic "please email me if you know the names" comment at the bottom.
