Can a free birthday ticket be upgraded to an annual pass?

This may be a basic question, but I'm a bit confused. Here's the deal: my son will be 3 in September so he'll need to get an annual pass. If we go on his birthday, he'll get a free pass into the park... can that pass be used towards an annual pass? And if so, can I also apply the gift card I go on my birthday towards his pass?

I know you can't use your gift card towards admission. But I'm not sure about the other one. Hope this helps.

You can definitely use his admission towards and annual pass. Not 100% sure on the birthday gift card. I know this last year for my birthday we used my free admission and several gift cards towards my AP.

i did this. they gave me a birthday fun pass and i used it to renew my ap.

You can even buy someone else an AP, as I did for my dad yesterday.

A free birthday ticket CAN be upgraded to any other ticket media.
A birthday fun gift card can ALSO be used to purchase ticket media.
Of course you can only use them for ticket media you would normally purchase, like if you live in Nor Cal you can't upgrade or use the fun card for a So Cal annual pass.

I know this is illegal, and Disney may hunt me down after posting it, but when I went with my family in the summer of 2004 to Disneyland, my brother and sister (twins) were 3 years old, but we said that they were 2. I know its illegal, but we went to Disneyland 4 more times after that, we paid for there admission. We weren't going to pay $65-$70 a day, when they could barely talk. I know I'll get criticism but whatever.
