Re: Knott's Scary Farm RIPS on Disneyland...

OK, I just read thru the entire thread and noticed no one mentioned what the gold medalians that had the number 28 in them said underneath.

They looked sort of like this:

28
The Happiest Haunting on Earth

Brilliant.

Sorry. To clarify, I haven't been to Knott's since days when Gasoline Alley was operating, but I see the place in pictures today and just about want to cry. It's succumbed to Coasteritis.

It's lost a lot of its charm, especially after the closure of Kingdom of the Dinosaurs.

28th Haunt at Knotts. =)

I went on the 31st and had a LOT of fun! They did rip a lot on Disneyland, but hay, they are the biggest target this year! They also ripped on every other pop-culture referance and popular movie/music star, but it would not be a Hanging without that!!!

The people getting all bent out of shape because Knotts is bagging on Disneyland need to lighten up. They bag on 6 Flags almost as much as Disneyland bags on 6 Flags Equal oppertunity offender!

The part with July Anders being drunk was GREAT!!! I laughed so hard on that one.

And another Haunt is done, and more memories are made. I wish I could share them, but this is a Disney forum. I would get dogged on for having fun at a competing park

I hope to see the Hangin' next year. It sounds like quote a farce. How bizarre it would be to see Julie Andrews as a Supercalifragilisticexpi-alcoholic! I wonder if all the Disney characters die with a smile on their face?

The year I went, ages ago, they did a parody of Fantasmic. They had Sorcerer Mickey Moose (I think it was a moose) fall from his perch ontop of a platform that resembled the TSI cabin. I think it's hysterical. Disney deserves a little jab now and then.

The 28 indicated the 28th year of the hanging, NOT the haunt itself.

Re: Knott's Scary Farm RIPS on Disneyland...

I know its late for a reply, but I am truly surprised no one even mentioned that Knotts was around LONG before Disneyland. It actually is a contender for the first US theme park. When Disneyland opened everyone told old Walter (Knott not Disney), that he would go out of business due to the new Disneyland park down the way. Both Disney and Knott figured out a way to keep each other in business though; on days Disneyland was closed (yes Disneyland used to close 1-2 days a week) they would recommend guests to go to Knotts, on Days Knotts was closed the employees there would reccomend Disneyland. If anyone has a right to parody Disney its certaintly without a doubt Knotts, they were around first.

However, as with Disney, their present management is beyond clueless and horrible. They keep detroying and removing the only thing that really made Knotts unique; its ghosttown (which by the way, most of those buildings are not modern recreations, they are original real ghost town buildings that were moved in and fixed up).
