Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker VII

Is this hole in the stage right section?
Wonder if they needed to get in under there to adjust something? But why wouldn't they just walk underneath it then? Maybe the platform cracked or was damaged so they are replacing that section?

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker VII

Was checking out the photos on Boy33's twitter page and i have to say they are placing a lot of detail into the lagoon and the surronding area. It seems they really wanna change the pace and its looking very very disney in my opinion.

^ I am glad it's looking good. Disney is what we (and Disney) wants DCA to look like.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker VII

I have a question, if they're really going to make the Carthay Circle theater into the new preview center for the resort and not some sister Club 33, what's going to go into the Blue Sky Cellar? Do you think that is large enough to put some some dining in there? Perhaps that could be used to relieve some of the pressure into getting into Club 33 instead?

^great pic love the overview of the viweing area is it me or is that fountain structure thing a little to far to the right in the picture...i thought it was going to be more centered in the scheme of things.

DO you think they'll do the wrap around boardwalk to SSS before they start on everything else or wait till the end. It looks like there's no more orange left. Once the viewing are is complete, I wouldn't mind to spend a good amount of time just relaxing there.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker VII

Wow after all those months of pushing around dirt, the viewing area looks like it snapped into high gear. I love the details.

It's not going anywhere near the center of the viewing area. It's going where the two bridges meet. And it MAY look more to the right because that area is partially open.

I can't help but think that the plans for the entrance (green art deco stuff) and "Buena Vista Street" just look like a rehash of the Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida. Anybody else agree?

More updates from Darkbeer:

Notice in the next picture, it looks like they're installing a lift system where the rising stage will be. See the black thing attached to the inside of the gap?

Look how tall that statue thing is getting. Wow!

Lightbulb Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker VII

Just guessing, but I think that the whole is there for a pre-planned purpose. It looks like there were no fountains connected there, since there are no hose fragments apparent in the hole. Also, one of DarkBeer's pictures of the same location seem to show fountains conveniently spaced around where the hole now is. Perhaps, the hole serves a dual-purpose, allowing access to key components that might be necessary, and also to allow the platform to move through the water a little more easily, when it is raised? If that's the case, we'll probably see more such holes.

As for why the hole(s) would not appear until now, if it were part of the plan, the best explanation I can offer is that it is probably easier to build the whole platform and then cut basic, square holes into it, than to build the platform with the hole(s) and then work around it/them when laying tar paper and whatnot.

No. Buena Vista Street looks totally original, IMO.

I definitely see the similarities and thought about that when the concept art surfaced. Hopefully it doesn't end up coming off that way when it's materialized.
