They're both based on the Pan-Pacific Auditorium.

Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards both feature representations of actual buildings that do and did exist in the Los Angeles and Hollywood areas.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker VII

Hmm... I mentioned this late in the last project tracker, but shouldn't this one use the name "California Adventure" rather than "Disney's California Adventure", as that is the new proper name?

i agree especially with the teal entrance. thats why im not a fan of it, looks very similar to the MGM Studios from 1989.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker VII

i wonder if the new trolley cars will have the same cool idea, but eventual stoppage that the ones in Toontown did. looks cool, but with the constant crowds, they couldnt run them without the danger of running over someone.

also, with the new Buena Vista Street, does that mean theyre taking out the train where the ice cream shop is?

Disney's printed materials still officially use the Disney's California Adventure name. Until that changes or we get a new logo, we'll stick with "Disney's" here as well.

In answer to your first question, probably not, because the streets are wider at DCA. Notice they don't have a problem running the horse-drawn streetcars down Main Street across the esplanade.

In answer to your second question, probably.

That train was one of the cooler places in DCA 1.0. That, the winery and Grizzly Peak area. Everything else, not so much.

It looks similar because they're both based on the same architectural design, a design that fits in well with the entrance area and that side of the park in general. Using the entrance again doesn't count as laziness in my book, since that side of DCA is just a west coast transplant of MGM Studios in the first place.

What would you rather they build?

While I like the Pan-Pacific Auditorium turnstiles, I think rather than duplicate them here I'd like to see them create something in the missionary style, stucco over brick.

no, CMs are still using the name "DCA". It's just a rumor that CMs started themselves that the new proper name is just California Adventure. Last time I was there, at the end of last week, everyone was calling it "DCA" or "Disney's California Adventure". Why remove the "Disney" from DCA? It's finally becoming a true Disney park.

Well it's not a rumor when it was in an official Memo. Like I stated before, the VP of DCA really wants us to start refering DCA as just California Adventure. This might lead to the eventual name change of the park as a whole, but right now, they're taking baby steps.
