What would you rather they build?
sorry to repeat but id rather they left the entrance alone. I liked the murals. all this talk of theming, then a monorail blows right through it. It just reminds me its not all that necessary to over-think the theming sometimes.

I kind of like the train too. Even though it was kind of corny, I thought the shops inside different train cars was a nice idea.

Glad I'm not the only one that likes the murals.

The one in DHS is only part of the building.. it's not setup as the full theater.

Most if not all of the buildings in DHS's Sunset and Hollywood Blvds are tributes to actual structures.

Considering both 'lands' are focused on the same Golden Era of Hollywood/LA.. they should look similar

However the actual layout and implementation will be very different... but key iconic stuff will be visible in both.

That's like saying the Matterhorn shouldn't exist, or the Submarine Lagoon because a Monorail goes through the area.

The murals have no relevance with Buena Vista Street and its creative intent and function. The Monorail is an unavoidable evil at this point for the DCA entrance, but its presence does not mean that proper theming of an area is unnecessary.

Since I have never been to WDW or even plan on going there anytime soon, I'm glad I'll have the chance to experience something similar. I, and I alone, am ok with similar rides at the parks because I don't think I'll be fortunate enough to see the other parks. The DLR will never get something from Tokyo, so if I want to see something there, I'll HAVE TO GO TO TOKYO.

But then again you have to admit... while still off theme, the newer monorails will look A LOT better than the old ones (I'm not sure about the Mark numbers sorry)

In DHS, the buildings in Sunset and Hollywood Blvd. are loosely based on the architecture of a lot of famous Hollywood buildings, The carthay circle theater being just one of them. It is just blended in to the street.... just think comparing the carthay to the Chinese theater in DHS.

^I agree. The new monorails are much better than the old ones especially when they repainted it to the submarines.

I also like the murals, but I don't think they should be in the entrance. I find that they look more like something you would find in an airport.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker VII

I could be mistaken but I thought I'd read that the Golden Gate Bridge was to be replaced with a "wooden" covered bridge more fitting the time period BVS represents. If so, then the monorail would be fairly hidden within the bridge as it passes and wont intrude into the 1920's.
I'd also read that the California Zephyr (the train) would remain.

Of course now I can't find any information on either of these and plans at Disney tend to change like the seasons in the early phases of a redesign.

Anyone, please feel free to set the record straight. I could be wrong about both.

Thanks

Does anyone think they will mix up the coloring of the faux stonework on the central part of the viewing area? The other stonework on either side is more eclectic, color-wise. Too many conflicting patterns and ideas is what made the pier so miserable in the first place.
they are adding several layers of detailed paint to the stonework. They are not done with it. They already did the base of the stonework now they are going back and aging the design.

Also you probably can't see it in photos, but they did restore the "stone" work under the extension. They also colored it ever so slightly, if you see it from the entrance to the Golden Zepher you can see that the stone work is a slightly browner shade.

i do not think the trolley will have the same issue os the jolly trolly. The Jolley trolley saw its closure for several reasons. The main reason was that it moved along a very narrow and busy little area with many children. The track also wrapped around an area that was used for Roger Rabbit overflow queue.

The red trolley will be moving up and down a street that is equivalent to mainstreet and will have a much longer distance to travel. They will basically run similar to the main street vehicles and will most likely close closer to the evening. There are also no fireworks that will create huge crowds in the red trolleys pathway. The parade is also planned not to run anywhere near the trolleys track.

Yes the Zephyr used as the facade for Burrrbank ice cream and the bakery will be removed. That is a shame because i do like that facade.
