    Great Moments with Mr....(returning?)

Do you think Great Moments will return, or should return? Do you think something fresh should be put in it's place?

Like Bob Hope or Sinatra that wore out their welcomes and their audiences, let Abe go out gracefully. Let's try and remember him for the great show he was, not Gallagher-esque animatronic he became. Like Burt Reynolds, Abe cannot withstand another facelift.

"As usual he's taken over the coolest spot in the house"- Father re: Orville 1963

Maybe replace him with a newer attraction"Great Moments With Walt Disney". an animatronic Walt could show the 50 year history of the park in a multi media presentation taking us from the days of the old orange groves to todays current park. There could be footage of rides that no longer exists, what became of where they were and now and then photos form some of the areas that have grown in over time such as Jungle Cruise and the rivers of America. Be sure to include failures like Rivers of America draining out on the first fill, and rides like the phantom boats that disapeared so long ago most of us have never seen what they looked like. Do the screen in multiple panels like in the Animation Building over in DCA so that it stays energetic and more than a simple slide show. Highlight the evolution of parades over the years at Disneyland, how they went from corny parades of characters to such great shows like the Lion King Parade and Fantasmic.

I don't care if they bring him back or not, as long as they don't replace him with retail space i'll be okay.

I dunno, I'd rather 86 the parades than Abe.

From what I've read, there's nothing too irreplaceable where Residential Street used to be. Choose something that accommodates Abe and put him there. Or keep him in storage to put in our WestCOT when they finally build it. But consider Walt's connection to this piece and keep it from being unceremoniously dumped.

not sure what else they could put in such a small space that still fits the the theme. I Love the AA Walt idea, but really it doesnt fit main st. I also think Abe has some important historic value and shouldnt be completely gotten rid of. Frankly if anything is a waste of space, its the waiting area to get into the attraction, the walt Disney story part has been very poorly done for many years, and did we really need that miniature replica of the capital sitting in the middle? I always puzzled over the signifigance of that model, it ties in to the Abe thing on the smallest of notions, there isnt even any interactivity with it or signs about the history really, it just seems odd to me.

Does Abe have two auditoriums? I sort of remember when I was younger, they had Linclon, and a actual auditorium with real seats where you watched a much larger screen version of the Walt Disney story, and the que area to it had a AA owl that talked about the true life adventures films. That was a heck of a lot more entertaining than the 3d sound abe experience.

I have read over the years that the Disney Family has an agreement with the Disney company that they would NOT build an animatronic Walt. Remember that Walt's wife is still alive and seeing her younger husband in 3D might be a bit strange.

I would like to see a new show with walt or the original show.

I also read this, and that the Statue in the hub, was also an issue.

Maybe no AA's at all, how about just a history of Disneyland, Mickey Mouse, and of course Walt. Artifacts of old rides, maybe interactive, if possible. So many kids today have no idea what it used to be like. I know I for one would love to see the old stuff, would bring back wonderful childhood memories!
Mom, remember, it's not what a person is like on the outside that counts,
it's what they are like in their HEART!

Walt Disney's Widow is NOT alive. Lillian Bounds-Disney-Truyens Died on December 16, 1997 at her Holmby Hills home. She was 98 Years old. I dont think there were any family concerns with the Partners statue. I dont think She visited Disneyland after 1984...

As I recall, the issue is primarily with Walt's daughter Diane.

For me it would really depend on what they replace it with. Abe has sadly run his course, and I will miss him if he does not return.

I still have a soft-spot for the 80's to mid-90's Abe show that featured the song "Two Brothers" and ended with that absolutely soaring "America" song. Dated as it was, I'd give anything to see that again.
