    Taking mum broke with expectations...

I took my mum to DLR on Friday. She hadn't been for over 15 years since she and my father were taking my sister and I annually. As expected, she thought I was insane when I was raving over how maintained most of the park was now. To her, it was like it had always been.

Much like anyone who experiences a *new* ride, she was eager to return to Star Tours again and was shocked to see no line. She enjoyed it a lot. She enjoyed Pirates as always, noticed the super splashy cannon balls, and wondered why the girl chasing scene was gone. She also liked the pirana on the Jungle Cruise.

We saw Billy Hill and Hill Billies and she thought they were talented, but missed the larger production numbers and better theme of the classic show. She complained about the poor shopping, especially in New Orleans Square and hated the cartoony overlay on the Haunted Mansion. Go figure, the mom hasn't seen Nightmare before Christmas and just thought the ride was ruined with cheap props. I avoided Pooh and the Tree House, I'm sure she would have had a cow. She really wanted to eat at the Tahitian Terrace, but, alas, I had to tell her it was no more. We did eat at the Blue Bayou where I got a free AP pin for, ironically, the Tahitian Terrace.

The biggest surprise of all? She really enjoyed the new rides. Nope, not the cartoony Buzz. The *new* rides at DCA. A Bug's Life was her 3rd Favorite ride, followed by Soarin', followed by her #1 favorite ride of the day... Tower of Terror. Who'd a thunk a mom would like that?

Thanks for sharing that is great to see it from your mum's perspective. Sounds like a good day. Cheers!

ORDDU: Just because a witch is curious, Lore, ducking; did your mummy also happen to notice that the back side of water on the Jungle Cruise isn't what it used to be? It's down to a mere trickle compared to what it used to be. And--for the life of my sisters and me--we don't know why!!

Hmm, well, you can never really tell how anyone will react I guess.

Uh, question...why did you get the free AP pin from Blue Bayou? What do you have to do exactly?

if you spend a certain amount you get a pin. I got the tahhitan terrace one a few months ago. They gave me another one the last time we went, but I didn't even open it to see what it was...

Oh man my mom won't go on much of anything. She almost fell out of a coaster when she was younger so I can only get her on rides like Mansion, Pirates, and Fantasyland stuff. Oh and she loves the Pooh ride.

Glad you had fun with your mom!

ORWEN: (sniff) I wish I had a mother. Being an animated character, and all, I never had the pleasure of knowing what it was like to be tucked in at night. I do have my sisters, of course, and they're my family. But, still, I think even a witch needs a mother figure in her life. (pause) Is there anyone here at MiceChat who'd mind being my mother?

Oh yes, we did camp out a good spot for the fireworks and she thought it was the most amazing fireworks she had ever seen. No surprise there really. Now if only the rides had advanced as much as the fireworks, Disneyland would be filled with F-Tickets... er... or whatever comes after E-Ticket.

Those pins are pretty much sold out... Trust me!!
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...
