Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy Scary or Not?

Just reading Al's article frustrates me that TDA thinks it would hesitate that it would be too scary for little kids. The ride as Space Mountain alone is scary in itself, so more than likely the kid's who are riding it, could easily handle a scary overlay. I say they should give us all the scary they can dish out. Halloween is about being scary and there isn't a single scary thing in the Halloween offerings. Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy would be good for the park in offering an alternative to the kiddie stuff around the rest of the resort. What do you think? Should Disney stop thinking about little kids for once?

    Yes yes and yes!!

Making the Space overlay toned down to accommodate kids is like the bar not selling liquor to accommodate kids. It's catering to the audience that isn't 'watching the flick' so to say. And Disney can make some pretty scurry s***. I would love it if Space was overly scary. I would look forward to it if I found out it was going to be.

Absolutely agree, the teens and adults need something to get excited about for a change.

Make it scary and expect that anyone that meets the height limit should be alright. And if that isn't enough, do what WDI did to warn parents of the tone in snow white's scary adventure and scary up the pre-show.

That would certainly be a surprise, and a pleasant one. I'm expecting the typical "fun" Halloween theme that seems to be standard at the park, but if the Ghost Galaxy aims to creep me out even just a little, I'll love it.

Yes. HMH is for the kids...Hell, the whole park is for the most part. Make SPGG SCARY. I'm talking Alien Encounter, Shelley Duvall, twins in a hallway, bleeding wall, ear piercing screams scary.

Well I wouldn't want it to have bleeding walls and stuff, just have classy scary elements with a creepy soundtrack. I think you have the right level of scary when talking about Alien Encounter.

Disney has to do something to compete with Knott's and Universal. They have a perfect opportunity to market their halloween-time enhancements to the family demographic which Universal and Knott's (definately Knott's) is not setup for.

Does that mean that every enhancement in the park needs to be toned down to kid level? Not if Disney want's to keep the huge crowds coming at a healthy pace. Space mtn is historically one of the few rides in the park that do not accomodate very young children. It is more geared towards teens and adults and has been for as long as I can remember, so why take a great concept and tone it down for a ride that they have always built around older folks? It goes to show how much the TDA regime of the new millenium have disconnected themselves from the history of Disneyland.

Should Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy be scary? Of course it should! Although the theming may be questionable, I see a big opportunity for sudden scares and creeps if this is done right. I have a feeling Disney knows that as well. Hopefully my gut instict pans out and the ride turns out pretty great.

I wouldn't mind something scary, since all the Halloween stuff at the resort is kind of mild. Besides, I don't know how scary they could make it if you're zooming by as fast as you do.

Exactly... I was wondering what they meant by "scary" too. I mean, are things going to jump out at you as you race by? I think it will be fun and my kiddies that are big enough for this ride will probably enjoy it...

I am curious who is voting No on this. It should be as scary as possible. There are tons of rides and activities for people who don't want a scare, give us thrill junkies a bone here. I hope they pull out all the stops.
