Long Exposure Fun - Sun 08/30

My first adventure experimenting with long exposure shots........ practice practice practice.

"Long exposure" = allowing the camera shutter to stay open longer to allow light to come into the photo.

Had tripod...need remote shutter control.
Had ISO between 100 and 200 most of the time.
Shutter setting was all over the place.
NO FLASH.

Arrived at about 11pm.
Left about 1:15am ish

Very odd being amongst the last 50 or so guests in the park. Security does a good job of (politely and courteously) corralling everyone into Main Street.

Fantastic color! I love the shot of mainstreet with the castle out of focus. Very unique and brilliante photography.

Great photos! I love experimenting with my camera, I must remember to take some long exposure shots next time I'm at DL.

Wow, those are awesome! I love the surreal look of the park late at night with almost no one there!

Skunkwerx, I dont know what kind of camera/lens combination you're using but these are beautiful!

A few suggestions to try next time!

On the fountain shots, beautiful, try a ND (Neutral Density) Filter to those shots and it'll cut out alot of the blown out portions of the fountains where its all white, but will still be milky and smooth. It will also increase exposure times depending on the intensity of the filter

I love the out of focus shot on Main St. something I think would look really good though is if you have or have access to a prime lens with a 50mm focal range, try focusing on the tracks again and use this technique DIY - Create your own Bokeh | DIYPhotography.net

Would be really cool if done with a Mouse cutout shape on the lens for a really REALLY cool Disney-themed effect, subtle but very effective. That would also work on anything with small lights in the background out of focus if you had something in the foreground, like the bronze statue of Walt and Mickey.

Thanks for sharing these!

One trick if you don't have a remote shutter control is to use the camera's shutter delay timer. That way you can eliminate motion of the camera from pushing the button without having to buy one or you can even use a camera that doesn't support one.
