Pizza Port Sign

While many of you are probably still recovering after screaming your brains out with excitement over a certain animatronic dragon, there is one item on the opposite side of the park that no one has really cared notice--Redd Rocket's Pizza Port's marquee sign.

Yeah, so what?

Well, the sign that has been there for years since the opening of TL 98, with it's 3-d lettering and glowing awesomeness at night, isn't exactly the same right now.

Santa Ana winds ripped through Tomorrowland and knocked off a few of the letters from the sign. The neon letters came crashing down, smashing into several pieces. Luckily, no one was hurt, as it was just a little bit after opening time. Maintenance crews were quick to take down the rest of the sign before guests got confused. The restaurant was sign-less for the time being.

The sign was replaced with a temporary printed "flat" that basically mimics the original before the old sign could be fixed. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the glowing awesomeness at night.

As it turns out, this temporary sign has been in place for A YEAR! At this point, the new sign should be installed in a few months. What boggles me is that no one, not even a micechatter caught this until now (I didn't even notice myself until a friend of mine pointed it out and relayed the story). Of all little things Disney, I'm boggled that this one slipped past the Disney theme police/ Trip Report paparazzi-- and it's in clear view! Boy, MC dropped the ball on this one... ( I guess it was D23 announcements and dragons that got the best of ya'll)

So do you know if they are putting up a new sign or are you assuming? I have really never noticed but thought that its odd the clear difference and nobody brought it up. Indeed good find Nautilus.

Wow, good catch Nautilus and friend! I hadn't noticed this at all. Of course, this isn't photographed an awful lot either. I hope they do repair the original 3d light up sign.

They are going to put up a new sign. When exactly, I have know idea.

I think the signs that need to be redone is the ones from Mickey and friends. The sun has really faded them out. I was there on Sunday and when I was leaving that night I was looking at Daisy's sign and it's so fade it's made her turn out yellow as for the Donald/Minnie one you can't really tell what Minnie's say at night you can't see her name or the number 6 on there. They really need to fix them.

I think the Pizza Port signage and the red "wing" behind it clashes so badly with the new TL color scheme, I wish theyd re-paint and re-design that sign anyhow. Red and pink doesnt match the new blue/silver scheme. sorry.

I noticed this, even took pictures of the flat sign for a Dateline Disneyland update.

Sometimes things slip through, or seem less important than others. The sign is ugly no matter what.
