I know you aren't complaining. I am.

That's a question that shouldn't have to be asked if Disney knew how to run their foods department properly.

Sounds interesting. $10 doesn't seem too bad in the grand scheme of things. Getting something similar at Pick Up Stix is like $7 as it is. If the food is good and the portions are large enough then it might just be worth it. Of course, once you add the drink on top of that then things start feeling a bit painful. Maybe I'll give this place a try on our resort visit on Sunday.

Me too. I wanted chow mein.

So if the place doesn't do too well can we assume that the prices/quality/portion size have nothing to do with it and guests just want chicken nuggets? Someone needs to do a thread on another park that has better/cheaper Asian food now!

Other then that I'm not a rice bowel fan, wish they had more then just that.

So, any pictures of the new, opened restaurant and the food?

I know at Universal in Orlando, they serve orange chicken, stir fry beef, and something else at a counter service with white or fried rice and vegetables for $8.29..

Here ya go...

The Lucky Fortune Cookery....

My meal...

My Bill...

Comparisson of the entree size to a 32oz pop cup:
Side

Top

Quick thoughts:
-the food was VERY good. The sauce wasn't too spicy and had a little bit of bite to it. For me, if I am in the park and eating, this would be a very viable option. If it was lunch time and I was deciding about staying in the park to eat before I headed out to the park, not sure I would do that every time. I would rather spend within a dollar or 2 and get all you can eat at Fire and Ice at Gardenwalk. I happened to eat there earlier this week, so it was an easy comparisson for me. I must say that I did feel full after eating it, but that perception is different for everyone.

Hmmm.. from the picture it doesn't look like $10 worth of chinease food to me. It'll probably be really tasty making it yet another over priced food I love at Disneyland.

Looks like it's in the same ballpark as the Bengal skewers and Dole Whips -- extremely tasty, but blows a hole in your wallet.

That comparison picture doesn't really do it justice, remember that's a large soda. I think I'm right in saying one bowl could easily be split by 2 or possibly even 3. I know I wasn't able to finish my bowl on my own. Tasty is definitely the correct description to use, btw.

It looks like a pretty good portion size - more pricey than a non-theme park food but about what you'd expect from one. Glad you liked it

Re: Guests select ingredients at new Lucky Fortune Cookery, opening 9/4

the bowls do sound good. But I like variety/diversity when it comes to my asian food (hey I'm viet, can't help it). I don't necessarily always want to eat rice, so having other options would be good or at least have some side options like dumplings or egg rolls. But I guess as a quick service option they need to have something streamlined and quick for the workers to pull off, so from a business standpoint I understand the lack of diversity.

too bad I don't have my AP anymore, I would totally go try it out. I didn't even know the place was being reopened.

And suddenly the $10 bill goes back in my wallet...I've seen more Chinese Food in an MRE! The scary thought is that the bowl is roughly half the size of the drink (likely 2/3 capacity at most).

Re: Guests select ingredients at new Lucky Fortune Cookery, opening 9/4

I had the beef with spicy korean sauce yesterday. The food was really tasty. I ended up adding a bit of soy sauce as well as chili sauce, but that is mostly because I like spicy food. I tried it the way it came, added some soy, tried it again, added the chili sauce mixing thoroughly each time and once i added the chili sauce it was perfect. I am sure they are deliberately making it a bit on the tame side for American palettes, but either way, it was good.

I asked for brown rice and was told that the rice was mostly white, but had a bit of brown rice already mixed in. There was no brwon rice only option which was a bit disappointing since brown rice is by far my favorite, but certainly not a deal breaker.

I was more than satisfied with the protion size and found the price in line with other DLR quick service offerings. The rice bowl is exactly .50 cents more than the soup in bread bowl across the way at Boudin, so for me, with the portion size, taste, and convenience, I found it a good value.

I will definitely be back to try all of the meat and sauce combinations. i am not much of a tofu fan, but i definitely want to try each of the sauces with both chiken and beef until I find my absolute favorite.

I am hoping that as the venue grows in popularity, they will expand the menu, I don't necessarily need more entree choices, but a pot sticker appetizer/side dish would be awesome. I could also see chow mein/lo mein as an alternative to rice in the bowl, I think that would be great as well. Even without them, I will be back, often.

Oh my god, I thought they were going to get more creative than that. I don't like rice bowls. I would have liked chow mein, chop suey, char su dumplings, individual dishes, brown rice options, and more.
