The new haunted mansion story?

Sorry if I'm a little late or its already known, but I've heard that the changed bride in the haunted mansion has a new story behind it, is that true? If so I was already surprised that they even changed the bride, I cant believe they would change the story! Lol does anyone have any answers or speculations?

Supposedly there'll be new updates early next year, when it reopens again after the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay is done.

Im pretty sure thats who it is.. They used to have the bride with the beating heart, but now its different, and I heard theres a new story behind it, lol, but I too am curious about the hatbox ghost! Anyone have any updates on that?

Well, in brief, Constance was a woman who married many men for their money and killed them all with an axe. Their portraits and various other documents are on display in the attic, and Connie herself is visible as a bluish apparition, spouting one liners like "I do...I did." Then the hatbox ghost was a ghost who was removed shortly after the attraction opened in 1969 because the gag wasn't working quite right. His head was supposed to periodically disappear from his shoulders and appear in the hatbox he was holding, and vice versa. Now he's ostensibly coming back, using 21st-century technology to make the effect convincing, and he'll presumably play the role of Constance's most recent husband.

As to why he looks like a cartoony skeleton and she and her other husbands looked real enough in their portraits...the world may never know.

I disagree. There was never much of a set storyline. It was an "experience ride" - a collection of related vignettes that provided a loose narrative that you could lose yourself in. There was never really anything more specific than the idea that you're touring a haunted house, and the ghosts are creepily having trouble manifesting, so Madame Leota says some incantations, and the ghosts start appearing, and you realize that death is just a big party. Earlier ideas featured more explicit stories, but the actual attraction never had much that was set in stone until Constance arrived on the scene.

I do agree with you there, completely. In a way tho its returning more to some of the original ideas were the storyline was more etched out.

What opened in 1969 was somewhere between the oddity of "Museum of The Weird" and some of the more gruesome tales, like the Sea Capt, that were toyed with in the early days.
