    FANTASMIC! blunders

After so much talk of the obvious delay of the much anticipated Murphy I was curious what other mistakes have been veiwed in F! on a more show to show basis. For instance the dragon getting stuck up last Friday.

Stories, Pics, and Vids are all appreciated including perhaps what scenarios the show cast members train for. Thanks!!

Here's a blunder: The dragon (whom I refuse to call that silly nickname), is a SHE. Not a Sir.

    Re: FANTASMIC! blunders

My most memorable Fantasmic! Blunder was one night when King's Louie's Raft died and was stuck across from the Mark Twain Dock. As a reult, the Columbia was stuck behind it and all through out the Peter Pan scene, it was acted in one spot, lol, In the finale, the characters had to do the alternate ending on the island and there were only FOUR CHARACTERS!!! It was so embarrassing!!

Other times was when Pinocchio or the Dragon didn't go up. I saw times that the Columbia had to be pushed by a barge and you could see the Techs driving them!!

At the 9:00 showing tonight Mickey didn't disappear at the end. He had to be helped off by a stagehand.

Now, this needs more information, just cause I love this story.

Sorcerer Mickey appears fine and vanishes fine.

However, Classic Mickey isn't quite as lucky. His lift came up a little slow, so in the moment where he was supposed to appear he's rising up (which actually looks pretty cool). He goes to vanish and ducks down. However, he did not go down. So he's standing there with his hands on his hips, shrugs, and starts waving to everyone. Everyone in the audience is cheering and clapping for him and he is escorted off stage. He took a moment to wave again before going into the tavern.

That's why Fantasmic! was delayed tonight. I was wondering why.

    Re: FANTASMIC! blunders

I know I posted this vid before, but I'll post it up here since this is the first Fantasmic! Blunder I've seen.

Heres what you should see happening in this vid I recorded.

During the 9:00 PM show on September 6th, Murphy did show up. However, when the eyes turned on, I immediatley noticed that it wasn't moving. I said to myself "It's not moving. What happened?" Nethertheless, I recorded it and it barely moved as soon as Mickey got his sword. It moved perfectly in the death scene. And because it wasn't moving at all, the mouth didn't open and the fire oviously didn't happen. Returned for the 10:30 and it was moving and breathing fire.

I also have seen the new croc going around the river not moving.

Although these stories are fun to share, keep in mind how complex a show Fantasmic is. It is amazing more things don't go wrong.

    Re: FANTASMIC! blunders

Fantasmic! tonight at the 9:00 showing started at least 10, maybe 15 mins late. The fireworks were delayed quite a while as a result! 10:30 show went on time and very well; only "off" moment I noticed was that Jetsam wasn't moving much and has his jaw hanging WIDE open the whole time. Kind of funny looking.

I've seen false starts before, too. I saw the projectors having some issues after they upgraded them last year. Once there was a cord hanging in front of the lens that put a big black line across the center mist screen all through the first video projection, and some stealthy crew member crept out there during the jungle scene and fixed it before the next projection!
But everyone in the live performance business knows that not matter how great a show is, crazy things are bound to happen once in a while. Stupid mistakes and errors and just silly flukes! Everyone's got some good stories. With Fantasmic! being such a tech heavy show that relies on a large cast and crew, it's bound to have more than its share of both hilarious horror stories.

is it possible that Disney has now bit off more than it can chew with all these new elements not in the original F! ?

No one said Murphy was a he. Besides Murphy is an asexual name. Both sexes can have it i.e. Murphy Brown.

Yeah, but the novelty of the name is a bit stale. Gertrude is better.

Didn't the back of the Mark Twain catch on fire a few months ago?
