I really loved it. It's actually pretty scary. Definitely not for the little ones (although I'm not sure regular Space Mountain is either :P)

Radiator Springs Racers ride count: 8
I think so, too. I heard the whole story was changed. Instead of it just being about fun daily journeys into space, it starts out where your going into space, and then you go into an area of space thats haunted, i guess its like the haunted mansion of space, wherre ghosts go or something. It sounds cool, I was wondering how they would make Space mountain "haunted", but it actually is starting to sound like they might actually make it work. (Though i still wish they did a haunted layover on Big Thunder, it would make more sense. Maybe next year?)
im going at 9 am in the morning tomorrow, so i'll post a review early.
^Hmm. Well, the ghosts in the ride aren't "silly scary" like on Haunted Mansion. They're genuinely creepy looking (like the one on the promotional poster) and they make appearances throughout the ride.
Also, parts of the ride use the dark as a scare tactic. Obviously, Space Mountain is already dark, but you'll see what I mean.
But honestly, if the stretching rooms in Haunted Mansion don't scare your kids, they'll probably be fine.
Hopefully the lines aren't too bad on Sunday but I will be there Monday as well, so if I don't get my fix (which I know I wont) I will get it by Monday. I am happy that the early reviews have been positive compared to the other overlay that I hope never returns.
Now, I'll turn that little mouse's dream into a nightmare Fantasmic!
Is the scary stuff used to tell a story, or like Knott's Haunt and all those things that are just "fun scary". I hope they can make it scary, but still keep it to the level to just tell a story or create the right experience.
There's not much story.
Well, i heard theres a backstory that you go into a part of space that is haunted, like ghosts are just drawn to that area or something, but i dont know how much was incorporated into the final attraction
Well, the story is basically an explanation for the meaning behind the overlay. But the actual ride experience isn't very story-driven or anything.
Oh, okay!I'm glad there's just a small backstory, because it'll let us use our imagination more, kinda like matterhorn, where its an experience, and that'll make it scarier and funner!
Thanks for sharing! I can't wait! Does anyone know if there's any videos yet? Did an CMs put any on youtube?
I'm sure there's another thread now where one the posters up there spills all the details.
But it was definitely darker, much darker than normal SM. Lots of monster ghost theme throughout the overlay.
As someone described, not a funny scary, more like a *scary* scariness, but still tame for someone jaded like me.
Bye.
I hope it's cool, but I doubt it will live up to all the hype. Just look at what happened with Rockit Mountain. That was pretty lame.
What else can they do to the ride besides change the soundtrack and add some lighting/projection effects?
I'll check it out, but I definitely won't wait 2 hours for it.
