    Disney Family Museum Disneyland Model

Here's a site with some photos of the new Disneyland model at the Walt Disney Family Museum (opening tomorrow).

This isn't a model of Disneyland at any particular point in history; it's a model of the "idealized" Disneyland that Walt might have imagined.

Note that many of the attractions are "opened up," showing stylized, action-packed interiors--sort of like the Sam McKim maps of old.

    Enjoy!

That is truly a work of art. Can't get enough of it. I think I might go to the museum at some point just for that!

The only thing that seems strange is what appears to be a hightened forced perspective down Main Street. This will get the rumor mills in high gear.

Oh, yeah, just noticed that as you said that. From this point on I guess we just have to ignore anyone that uses this model as their citation to support some myth of untrue fact.

This model would be a good blueprint for the Imagineers to follow in order to "update" Disneyland.

BUT WERES TEH BUZZ LIGHTYEAR RIDE?!?

No, but seriously, I need to see this. I'm planning on visiting as soon as I get a chance, maybe in December.

Beautiful. But the scale is kinda wonky, mostly on the interiors. Mr. Lincoln is the size of Paul Bunyan, and the Wicked Wench is equivalent to the Titanic! I guess it was done to make the interiors have more impact.

Think the Sam McKim Park maps...

    I think it's a fair trade.

    Oh wow...

I got chills just looking at this. Yeah, it's a bit wonky, but it's just so amazing looking. Not exact, but it is kind of like how you would envision the park, both the outside and inside of various rides.

Reality with a dash of fantasy. Just like Walt.

If they'd put a Fantasmic dragon on the tip of Tom Sawyer Island, I could get on board.
