We were at the parks from last Tuesday until Sunday (29th-4th). There are two paintings of the Haunted Mansion in the vault in the Disney gallery. Also, Pirates was down for a refurb for a while and reopened on Saturday, along with Blue Bayou.
Very beautiful pictures, especially the one of Mark Twain and Tom Sawyer Island, it looks like it's taken professionally by a professional camera. The one of the media character interviews were funny with the caption under them... Captain Hook and Jafar hitting on the Queen of Hearts, that's too funny.
As AlishainWonderland noted above, inside the vault in the Disney Gallery were two ORIGINALs of the Shag paintings done for the Mansion's 40th anniversary. very cool to see them in person.
Later that day, the Disney Villains were lined up along the character meet 'n' greet area between Small World and Matterhorn. It was Hook, the Queen of Hearts (who I kept calling John Laroquette), and the old Hag incarnation of the Evil Queen from Snow White. Later, jafar showed up to fill in for Hook. The kids in general seemed to enjoy meeting Hook, Jafar, and the Queen, but almost everyone RAN past the Old Hag. The mask is pretty creepy and the cast member inside the costume was living it up fantasicly. Made my devilish heart pound. ; )
Thanks for the comments, everyone and for filling me in on some of the details. I was wondering why the villains were all there with the cameras, and I discovered on another thread...it may have been Darkbeer's blog...that Channel 5 KTLA had been there earlier in the morning doing a live broadcast. It seems that I got there at the tail end of that.
I also have to wonder if the media thing has scaled down quite a bit from last year. Don't they usually invite like 20 something radio stations and set up in front of the HM? Have they already done that this year?
