I was never a fan, but I'd be willing to give it another shot. Especially if they de-creeped the pixies! Even though they didn't look like pixies but more like lifesize Strawberry Shortcake characters! I always thought if I walked up to one they would smell of fruit...
I enjoyed Light Magic and would not mind seeing it again if it did came back, however, it needed improvements and some changes to the overall format. Once the 50th celebration is over, it would be nice to see something new coming to DL at night besides the good old Fantasmic!
While I did like the float (notice - singular -- All 4 floats identical) .... Pixies doing a little dance that didn't make sense .... more "pixie" dust thrown in here and there .. that also didn't make much sense .... the music very mundane and mediocre (only time I liked the music was a few strings of "Baroque Howdown") .... This "Streetacular" was abominal. I think what also came off so trite was Disney's attempt to capitalize on the innocense of children .. but it didn't come off just right. The projected video on the center of the floats (Children's faces) .. and all the rest of it .. came off as a discombulated, miss-directed follie.
There's too much other good productions .. Just look at what TDL has had since their Main St. Electrical Parade was retired. I think they are on their 3rd incarnation of a night-time parade (??)? Fantalusion? And "Spectromagic" at WDW is pretty darn good.
Fantillusion is amazing! so is spectro! Having pixies dance, and share pixie dust isn't a good story line!
A good storyline is Fantillusion, you start off with mickey spreading the magic! The parade stops, magic is everywhere, lights flashing, disco lights going, wishing upon a star! The parade continues, when the villans roll about, there in there normal forms, suddenly black, evil demons everywhere, the villans transform into a snake, a dragon, a bigger octupus! It's looking grim when suddenly the good guys come, and spread that magic around!!
A good story line, is what is needed, to make a PARADE great.. Not 4 rolling stages, that stop for 20 mins, then carry on, that are identical!
~ Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday tomorrow and fantasy ~
I would NOT watch Light Magic even if it came back.
I remember trying to watch it on Matterhorn Way... just dark floats rolling by with no characters... Then when I did see it on Main Street, I was unfortunately subjected to their cheesy video of kids running around and having fun on the roll up video screens. I didn't care for the music, and the fairies didn't look very appealing.
But what I did like was seeing all of the window shades on Main Street light up with fiber optics woven into them. And thankfully due to Light Magic, they widened the parade route in a few spots-- which is helpful for the CMs operating Parade of Dreams.
If it's any consolation to those people who liked Light Magic, they say one of the drive units from the Light Magic floats is used in the Finale float in Walt Disney's Parade of Dreams.
