Disneyland At Capacity Tonight - No Place For Overflow

Just got back from a trip to the parks tonight. What a madhouse! We parked in Downtown Disney as we had shopping to do, plus we made the trip to pick up my daughter's gift card as it was her birthday today.

Wall to wall people all the way up Downtown Disney, LOOOOONG lines at security, and Disneyland was officially full as of 8:00 pm when we were there.

When you combine the 3 day weekend for those who have Columbus Day off with the Trick or Treat party at DCA, this is what happens. I don't know when I've seen it so crowded before.

When Disneyland has hit capacity in the past, usually they send them over to DCA. But with the Trick or Treat party going on, they are simply turning people away.

We are having my daughter's party tomorrow at Disneyland (scavenger hunt, etc) and we needed to buy extra tickets tonight. But they wouldn't let us!

What was up with that? I understand that the park is full TONIGHT, but why in the world couldn't we buy tickets for TOMORROW??

The line in the Esplanade for the hand stamped guests stretched clear across to the other side, up against DCA.

After completing our shopping, we waded through the mob back to the car. Lines of cars were still streaming into Mickey and Friends with the line going back to Ball Rd.

    Insanity.

They wouldn't let you buy the tickets for another night because the tickets aren't dated and you could theoretically head for the gate and try to get in tonight.

something else just occured to me...I don't think they had a max capacity all summer this year...I really don't think they realized how popular the park would be for halloween.

And just when we thought the economy was going to affect park attendance, it did. But not the favorable one. LOL

well, when people stop making the house payments to qualify for modifications then I guess they may have some extra money around to do stuff with.....i admit I am a bit jaded from being in the housing industry and watching people play the system.

Re: Disneyland At Capacity Tonight - No Place For Overflow

Crazy Busy tonight. We got there around 7:20ish, intending to head to the structure, but they had a sign out at Ball/Harbor directing everyone to alternate lots and that Disneyland was full. Decided to head over to Downtown Disney instead for some shopping and some ice cream. We were able to get into the Downtown Disney lot, but we were directed to the 2nd overflow lot, which I think is one of the Disneyland Hotel lots. Downtown Disney was packed too. We made it all the way to World of Disney for some shopping, canceled the ice cream stop and went out through the Grand California Hotel and went the long way round to get back to the car, because we just couldn't see wadding through that sea of people to get to the car! Kind of a crazy trip, but we still had fun just walking around and soaking up the atmosphere.

Thanks, CMH. I forgot that the tix are not dated, but you would think that if I showed up at the gate without a hand stamp, they would just send me on my way, plus the fact that the transaction occurred after Disneyland had stopped accepting un-stamped guests. But I'll just buy them online tonight instead. It just seemed weird to me.

I guess they saw this coming. They were telling guests to get their hands stamped this morning when I stopped by to do some shopping in the park, and it took me awhile to remember that it was Columbus Day weekend for some folks. Add to that the fact that NONE of the APs are blocked out tonight.

Yikes. It will be interesting to compare crowds tomorrow when both SoCal passes are blocked out.

If deluxe had been blocked as well I would still be going, but it will still be to busy for me without the deluxe being blocked.
