Tunnels = big money and expensive upkeep
Bridge = less big money but more of an eyesore and more trouble to handle handicap access

I think a big portion of it is what the city will allow them to get away with. The bridges in Vegas, etc are all good examples of what can be done to solve the issue.

To deal with distance though Disney would have to be more progressive. Outdoor moving sidewalks are problematic for upkeep. They really need to be sheltered to last. A peoplemover is the most exciting, but of course has a lot more safety issues to deal with, as well as cost.

I figure Disney will push for a bridge, and hope the city lets them.

My preferred method: Disneyland by jetpack - Boing Boing

For the rest of the masses either a slidewalk, people mover or bridge.

I'd like to see a monorail go from the Esplanade, make a stop at the new structure, and continue on down Katella or under the power lines, to ARTIC Center.

I don't remember where it was debunked, but I would think the center dividers/trees in the middle of the street around Disneyland would prevent any plane from landing. Now Harbor between Chapman and Katella, I could see that.

Wouldn't the high voltage power transmission lines that run into and around DCA obstruct a landing plane?

If they need a place to land a plane in Anaheim, they could use either the shops at Paradise Pier or Innoventions, just as long as they evac-ed everyone on the ground first and Sully Sullenberg was the pilot, so no lives were lost.

Now if they could only buy out that one motel that sits between the new northern portion of the structure and the esplanade, they could have a straight shot in over Harbor, rather than detour around the south and up Harbor.

Yep. I suspect the "Harbor-as-emergency-landing strip" thing is a leftover from the agricultural days of the 40's and early 50's. If you had to set down near Disneyland, your choices would be those two ag fields SE of the intersection of W. Katella and S. Habor... or the freeway. Urban streets are not an option.
