I agree. I hate that the pier took over more park real estae. The WoC viewing area could have been the Golden Gate Park. Bayside Park, etc.

It was already pre-designed, which made it appealingly cheap.

While the new DCA turnstiles are obviously very similar to the DHS ones, there are some definite differences between the two.

It's not identical, they still will need new construction drawings for the new entry, so I doubt the cost savings would really be that significant. I don't think cost had anything to do with the decision.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker VIII

The good thing about the turnstile structure they chose is that it is visually light. It will help make the entrance less busy, and it will give it some variation. It does fit with the theme. Whatever the reason may be, I'm sure there was consideration before deciding upon this.

The motion picture backlot theme has been done.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker VIII

I am seriously excited for BVS! Since I've been working Greeting so much lately I've noticed how tacky the whole store is and how jarring it is! I really am very VERY curious to see what they are going to do with the stores! Obviously they're going to add more. A interesting thing to note is that Greetings and Enginear toys both have VERY high ceilings. I wonder if they're going to scale them down to make it feel more cozy like Main St.'s shops.

EDIT: Looking at pics of models it looks like they're scaling down the buildings to just above the monorail track, right now the buildings go 6 to 10 feet above the track, they have windows so you can see the monorail passing by.

Well I am guessing the next phase of blue sky cellar after world of color in may will highlight Buena vista street... and perhaps carsland???

I'm betting that they'll be spotlighting Little Mermaid, the rest of Paradise Pier, and the Red Car until Little Mermaid opens up.. then they'll likely switch it to Buena Vista Street until it opens in early 2012 and then switch it to Carsland for the final few months of the expansion.

I would think TLM and the PP Gardens area will be highlighted next. Then BVS, then CL.

Absolutely true, as evidenced if you visit Disney Hollywood Studios. You enter the park in a great themed area (minus the hat) and when you leave Hollywood Blvd and Sunset Blvd, it becomes less and less magical as it becomes more and more like a sound stage or backlot.

I'm pretty sure the viewing area is not part of the pier. The BSC model said it would be themed to a turn-of-the-century public park.. works well with the san francisco themed street next door.
