That would be cool, but I have a feeling that some of the footage is being repurposed for the show as well. At least the spring sprite section that Steve Davidson talked about seemed to be designed to use the footage from Fantasia 2000. Of course in some cases they have to redo it to be high enough quality to be projected on a screen the length of a football field too.

Looking forward to seeing what the final product looks like.

In the video Steven says they are extending the spring sprite scene at the studio.

Very cool.

I wonder if this will get them to enhance/change some of the animation in Fantasmic! to take it up a notch?

Yeah I know they're adding new animation, but it also includes some original stuff.

Given the dimensions of the projection surface, there is a really good chance that even the original animation will have to be re-animated to fit the format. It can't simply be resized because the aspect ratio is not a standard one.

Those banking curves are as good as gold, maybe even $1,095.80/ounce good!?

You should probably say "After the show, an encore piece may follow". I think it happens when the applause happens for a long enough time.

The encore is another quick little dance by the fountains, if the applause is enthusiastic enough.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker VIII

It was rumored that the encore will be set to the theme of "The Incredibles".. I can't remember who said it, but I remember someone here mentioning it.

no, I'm pretty sure the encores will happen regardless of how much applause the show receives. It is meant to be an add-on to the show that will change over time.

yes, I read that as well. It's the same Incredibles CGI test that was shown at the D23 expo.

for those who are curious about the encores, Steven mentions them in this video at 8:20

The water whips will tilt toward the audience and go full blast. That way, you can take part of the show home with you!

Anyone have a guess as to what their purpose could be in the show?
That is interesting...

I think what BiggestDisneyFan and MrToadOfToadHall said earlier, make the most sense. If these are just halogen floods, then I'm leaning towards these being work lights. Rarely do Disney (or any professional show) use flood lights, unless for maintenance work. (The floods on the hydro towers along Town Square in DL come in mind.)

But....Something is telling me those aren't floods. That enclosure looks completely custom made for some kind of professional fixture. In fact, the shape of the side looks very similar, if not exactly like a Martin Atomic 3000 strobe. This is the same strobe they use for Grad Nights and during those old Halloween mini-shows on ToT years ago.
It could make sense to have an under-water strobe, as it can do numerous things. It can be used for dramatic scenes like the Lion King stampede, it can make that Disney Tinkerbell twinkly effect, or Atomics can be placed steadily on for a few seconds for a blinder/flood effect.

Here's a side view of a Atomic CAD drawing (from Martin's Website):

I tried to get pictures of the inside of those boxes with very limited success. You just can't get a good angle on 'em and the tops are too reflective.

Unfortunately you can't see much of anything in there except the tops of some metal parts at the ends. They sure look like lighting boxes but the one weird part is that the line going into it looks more like a high-pressure hose than a wire. It's stiff and shiny and up to this point that's usually been an air line. Of course, it could just be a kind of wire that hasn't shown up very much before.

You could totally be right on that, and you would know better than I because I only have minimal experience working with lighting. That's definitely an interesting idea and you could very well be correct. The shape and supports definitely look similar, it could just be an specialized underwater casing for it. If you look at this picture of Macro's:
10-30-09 - recursivemacro's Photos
and look at the full size image, it appears that there's basically nothing in it except for what appears to be just a simple wire, so it seems that they still have to install something into them, unless it's located in the very bottom of the housing, though it does look like there is a place at the top for a light to be connected.
