I wonder when they are going to install the speakers on the other towers. I hope there are more than what is there now.

Outside of the color and the shape? What do you think I was talking about?

ETA: In all seriousness, that's a very unusual lighthouse. Also, I think the key factor here is that lighthouses have the big light on top. Otherwise it's just a house.
A house? An outhouse maybe.

Slow news day eh? Anyone think PP garden area will still open Dec 18th? Like I've said DEP can't be done without the whole parade route and they look like they're almost done, but it's still officially listed as opening Feb 10! Who knows! Can't wait to see!

It's strange because it looks like they'd be done by the 18th. DEP is listed online as running the 18th through 20th... Have you heard anything else about DEP?

Or maybe they will finish the part by the trees so that they can move the work walls enough for EP to go through...?

I haven't herd anything about the parade yet, they haven't even started rehearsals so I couldn't tell you if they've changed anything from the summer. I would imagine it would be the same though.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker VIII

UPDATE! (because we desparately need one)

Ok, so in this picture, you can see that there is a bar going across the middle of the stage which means that they are starting to put down the final support structure for the top layer of the stage. Also, if you look at the right of the picture, you can see that the sound boxes in the park have gotten what might to be their final detailing. They have the wooden tops and what appears to be marble detailing. Of course, that is how the PoM started out, so it is possible that these will get the same style of treatment, so we shall have to wait and see what they decide to do with them.

Ok, this one isn't really a surprise, but the lighting towers are finally getting the lights that they have been missing. They've been discussed before and we came to the conclusion that they were spotlights, but I'm wondering what they would need normal spotlights for in this show, but I guess they'd find a use. Anyone have any guesses?

More concrete has been poured in the park, but they have a lot more to do. The last picture shows the progress the best. The concrete has been poured into those forms that show the separation of the tiers of the park. It look's like it's turning out pretty well so far.

The dome projectors have begun to get their wiring. And there seems to be a lot of it, what with all of the wiring for the actual projection and the hydraulics for lifting the domes up.

Also, I don't know if anyone has pointed it out yet, but the the hoses have been attached to the mist screen heads on the Chernabog frame. Unfortuanately I don't have a picture, but it's nothing too exciting.

And thanks to Darkbeer for the pictures once again.

I was at the park today and everything seems to be going great. They actually have alot done. And the PoM doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. Looks a little better in person.

Those ball light things aren't sticking up throughout the day, correct? If so, that's going to look terribly tacky.

Vari-Lite 3000's.
Which means the enclosures are Tempest Hurricane 2300's.

To answer your question, they can be used for anything. They can strobe/blind the audience. They can project gobos on water or again on the audience. They can act like searchlights, like the Syncrolites. They can change colors...etc..
Really, the possibilities are only limited to the imagination of the designer.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet, but the base of the projection domes have rings with nozzles. So it looks like when the domes are elevated, the nozzles will provide a "skirt" below it. I would imagine that they could be used as jellyfish.
