LOL I thought everyone knew that "inside" joke. No, I meant what I said. Listen to the Fantasmic! soundtrack again. It is a different recording of that line than the one used in the movie.

While it's a major bummer that there is no Ursula float anymore (especially because I kind of thing that section drags without it- too much water screen use), I wouldn't say that Fantasmic is dying a little each day. Things do go, but there have also been some improvements. I, for one, love the new strobe light effect in place of the people twirling shiny things. I especially love how they sort of "charge up" leading up to the pyro when Steamboat Willie appears on the Mark Twain. I also love them at the very end, when Mickey is on the island.

I saw the show last month with the strobes at the end for the first time and was blown away...it looks AMAZING!

    Re: Ursula in Fantasmic

People are probably remembering the commercial, which featured Maleficent as a believable dragon. The puppet used in the ad was only about ten feet tall, and the thing currently resides in The "Eat" Ticket commissary, backstage.

I always thought the inflatable puppet of Ursula looked cheap and unconvincing, so I'm glad to see it go. But, in a larger sense, I am ready for a new version of Fantasmic!

There is significant room for improvement, and the existing version of the pageant is more than thirteen years old.

    Re: Ursula in Fantasmic

I keep thinking it would be nice to have them build a stadium seating area for it like they have in WDW over at DCA to help draw a crowd over there, but then I remember the Mark Twain replica they have at the Studios which looks like it is made out of cardboard and about to tip over when all the characters are one side. It would be nice to have some real seating for little old people that can't sit on the ground or stand for how long you have to be there to save a spot, and then through the whole show too, that you don't have to pay $50 for.

I've thought the same thing, too.

If huge telescopic lighting towers can be hidden underground, why can't Imagineering or an outside company engineer grandstands that can be erected and collapsed automatically, too?

Can you imagine how much effort it would take to clear people out to raise the grand stands? ....
