I usually recommend DL because the festivies are better there.
Re: New Years Eve 2010 Questions
Just to let you know for the last 2 years the weather were strange.
Last year, the fog rolled in at around 9pm. By 11:59pm it was so foggy that you can't see more than 100 feet. So, when the fireworks went off you can't see the fireworks at all. Only bright lights shining through the clouds.
About 2 years ago, the midnight fireworks were canceled due to high wind. I was pissed.
For the first time in 2 years, this new year eve the weather should be picture-perfect.
Re: New Years Eve 2010 Questions
Should anyone even try to deal with parking in the afternoon and evening? I'm kinda wanting to get a trip in over new-year's, spending the 31st in DCA and saving DL for the next day. Due to scheduling I wouldn't be able to get there until late afternoon at earliest. With the ongoing parking fiasco there's no way it's going to be remotely pretty on the 31st.

Just for reference, this was the Hub at approximately 4:30pm on New Year's Eve 2008.

Knock on wood. A strong breeze can shut everything down, so it's a bit early to say it's all systems go. No rain, but "strong winds at higher elevations" can crank up at the drop of a hat, so cross your fingers.

Re: New Years Eve 2010 Questions
This will be my first time celebrating NYE @ Disneyland. I'm wondering where is the best spot to be at for the countdown...Castle, Small World, or Rivers of America? And what time should we set up our blankets?
Re: New Years Eve 2010 Questions
I would go again - but I would not repeat how our family did things last year:
New Years Eve was our fourth day at the parks, so we were quite tired. We got in early and stayed all day but my sons got tired and cranky (and cold) and we got frustrated getting from one spot to another, etc. The dj music was too loud for one son. We had a hard time finding a place to eat.
If you plan better than we did and you arrive rested, it should go well. There is an energy in the park that I'd never experienced before or since.
Re: New Years Eve 2010 Questions
If anybody is going on New Years, would you be willing to pick up 10 maps from each of the parks? I would be willing to pay for postage and the a little extra for your time. I collect the maps and they always have a special guide map available only on that day and I won't be able to make it. Please PM me if you can and we can arrange it. Thank you SO Much in advance.

Are they available NYE as well? I'd be happy to pick them up for you if so.

i was thinking of going for new years (AP here), if i were to show up in the morning before they stop selling tickets, get a hand stamp and leave, then return around 7pm, would i still be allowed in since i was there early or not?
If you can find parking when you plan on going back to Disneyland. If you stay at the resort....going to DTD yeah you might be allowed in Disneyland. Last year over 70,000 people were at Disneyland at one point.

Yes, sorry, that is actually what I meant. Just forgot the "EVE" :) Yes, they are special maps just for NYE, if you could pick some up, I would greatly appreciate it. I believe they go back to the normal Holiday maps on New Years Day.

I'm with you on this one. About waiting 5 hours for fireworks.
