RW - Thanks for your generous comments. HDR, as I understand it, stands for "High Dynamic Range." It involves combining two or more exposures in order to gain detail beyond what you would normally find in a standard exposure. There are a few programs out there that do this, and the one I use is listed under the next question.

Disneysnout - For the HDR shots, I'm using a program called "Photomatix" which is available online. For selective coloring, I'm using photoshop, creating another layer, and either painting the B & W layer in or erasing the color layer on top of it. There's an easier way of doing this, but that technique has been a bit hit and miss with me lately.

Don't even THINK that! You just took some AMAZING photos a few days ago, and inspired me to try a couple of things that I've never done before. In fact...I've taken a number of shots of Pinocchio in the hub before and had never noticed Jiminy Cricket on his shoe until you posted that great shot of him last week. So...obviously I just had to go back and try some shots of him a few days ago, which I'll try to post later. I think your shots were the first I've ever seen of him on Micechat...but I could be wrong. Seriously...your last photo update was amazing. I'm already looking forward to your next one.

That would be the OPPOSITE of what I was trying to do with this thread. Believe me...there are more than a few photographers around Micechat who leave me in the weeds as I am still very much an amateur and am only now beginning to read through some books to try to figure out how I can become a better photographer. In most of the podcasts that I listen to and blogs and books that I've read, the number one thing that is suggested over and over again is to just get out there and shoot whenever you get a chance. The cool thing about digital photography is that your mistakes don't cost you anything. And I've made plenty of those. : So keep that camera out of the box and keep shooting....and hopefully you'll share your shots on Micechat after your next trip to the park.

Part II is on it's way. I'm thinking I'll go in reverse chronological order and start with recent Christmas and rainy day shots next. Please check back if y'all get a chance.

Your pictures are.......breathtaking. Truly amazing. I can't decide which is my favorite...the one of Tiana laughing, the mardi gras people crossing the street, or Murphy.

Have you ever thought of printing one and maybe taking it to the parks and giving it to the people you photograph? Like the Tiana picture? I would imagine that would be a truly unforgettable keepsake. I know I'd treasure something like that.

Is it any wonder why my computer desktop always says "MacDaddy" at the bottom? No-- I am always stealing your photos for my background.

Quite simply, these are stunning photographs, and capture aspects of the park I love. I especially love the nighttime NoS/riverfront walkway shot, really excellent. Thank you for sharing these...and totally jealous of your camera now heh.
