Part V: More Rainy Night Photos
Sorry to be dragging this out for so long, but I've been spending quite a bit of time between experimenting with HDR and layers in photoshop with this next set of shots. For those of you who are still checking back on this thread, thanks for returning to see what I've been up to. I've still got a bit of a pile to wade through before I finish up with this, so I hope you'll keep checking back in the future.
In the mean time, to really get the full effect of the next batch, please feel free to visit my flickr account at Flickr: WJMcIntosh's Photostream and click on the "View on black" option underneath the photo. One of the bummers about flickr is that everything is on that nasty white background and as this next set is a bit darker, it really brings out a bit more detail to see them on black. But only if you have time.
So....where was I back on Christmas Eve? Ah yes. In the middle of a series of shots from 12/7/09 when instead of going straight home after work, I rushed over to the park to try to get a few more shots in the rain. In Part V, I had just taken a couple of shots of tomorrowland and had headed back into the hub. I paused as I got to the Partner's statue to grab a shot looking back at Main Street...
...before heading back to grab a few shots of the castle in the pouring rain. The Turkey legs looked tempting, but I felt bad for the poor CM huddled underneath his umbrella out in the cold...
When I got to the castle, the sky was looking pretty ominous.
It was coming down in buckets now, but I loved how the castle looked against that cold, December sky...
I headed toward Frontierland next, pausing to take a shot of the Matterhorn against the stormy sky...
Guests were huddling under the nearest umbrella to get out of the rain...
A Frontierland icon watched silently from the shelter of the shooting gallery...
One of the main reasons I love shooting in the rain is the reflection you get from the pavement throughout the park...
Finally the storm began to break as I approached the Mark Twain Dock...
And finally...to close out this section...I wanted to post a couple more shots of the Mark Twain and the Rivers of America before they disappear for 6 months behind refurb walls as the river is drained. This is easily my favorite area of the park, and I will really miss it while it is being worked on. Hopefully they will have it up and running again before June.
(More to come...)
