Re: Disneyland Park or Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom?

From a local's point of view:

When we go to the DLR it is always "Let's go to Disneyland!" It's never "Let's go to Disney's California Adventure!" or "Let's go to the Disneyland Resort!" It's always, "Let's go to Disneyland!"

it is only as an afterthought that it will be mentioned "Let's go to California Adventure instead". Or "Let's go to California Adventure first". But the initial thought is almost always "Let's go to Disneyland!"

I already know it is a magic kingdom...and I don't have "Disneyworld envy" so I don't need a MK lable on it either. Disneyland is a great name for it.

I vote just Disneyland, there's nothing wrong with that. I've heard it referred to as "The Magic Kingdom of Disneyland" which is a little too much to swallow, but just "Disneyland" is good by me.

slightly off topic, but I hate the name Disneyland RESORT. I mean, Walt Disney World is also called Walt Disney World Resort, but people don't call it that, so I don't call Disneyland "resort", either. I think Disneyland can be used as a general word, like a disney land, including disneyland, california adventure and downtown disney, as well as the single park.

That's true, they could at least think of something more creative, like "Disney Kingdoms" or something.

I too can't stand all the technical legal references such as "Walt Disney World Resort" and on videos and other promotions they say "and here at Magic Kingdom Park we have..." it sounds terrible.

I actually like it.... It sounds fancy!

But too bad they butchered half of the mickey gloves in all the gift shops with "Disneyland Resort". Leave them plain!!!

Re: Disneyland Park or Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom?

The global D made a lot of since as did "The Vacation Kingdom of the World". WDW has become a true vacation kingdom, far more than it was in 1971, there is so much to do there now, I don't see why they wouldn't use that slogan again, especially to entice people to stay longer with the amount of activities to choose from.

As for the Walt Disney World font it's more creative than the 1996-present font they have which is Walt Disney in the corporate script font and "World" written in times new roman. Unlike Disneyland which has a classic old-world, sort of Gothic font, Walt Disney World's original font, while creative, looks a bit dated, it would be interesting to see it in a new, thinned down font, incorporating a new global D logo.
