    New Salutation

With the new "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" promotion, they have started to modify the beginning of the announcements. Today, Jan. 1, 2010, one of the announcements for Fantasmic! started: "Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, and Disney Volunteers..."

Seriously, guys? You're going to make a stink over this? I think it's nice that they're honoring the volunteers in this little way.

And, no- Disneyland will never be just Disneyland again. It's a sad fact that I've had to come to terms with, but c'est la vie.

Disney used to be so elegant with its announcements. For years now, the place has been continually filled with bad grammar.

"Disney Volunteers" are ladies, gentlemen, boys, or girls, so the phrase is redundant.

Listen to Jack Wagner or read an old guidebook.

Disneyland operated at the level of a fine hotel or a fine restaurant. That loss of prestige is one of the reasons the trademark can't command the same premiums from guests and the same favorable deals with operating participants, anymore.

    Cool Re: New Salutation

I'd say that that is better than being wished a "Happy Birthday!" all day long. JUst my thought.

With this new promotion, Disney will now install a giant construction hat in place of the giant birthday invite they had last year, the old balloon decorations will now be shovels and sledgehammers, Celebrate! A Street Party will now be a parade advertising Craftsman tools, construction walls will be up everywhere...

    You can do the rest.

    Re: New Salutation

i think its cool! i dont mind little themed additions that make it a tad more special for those who did the volunteer work, just like the buttons make the trip feel personal on special occasions.

Its just marketing ruining everything at Disneyland. They are too cheap to come up with a good idea so they decide to lower the quality of everything to make something look good.
