But when most people talk about their jobs, I don't see them identifying the company they work for by name, nor are they discussing these things on a forum that's initially set up to discuss their company. I think that's the big difference.

I would expect that if you were on a non-Disney discussion board, and you kept your comments generic enough so that one wouldn't know which amusement park you worked for, you'd be in the same position as other non-CMs on this board.

It's not the Disney Plants that cause problems around here. It's the Universal ones.

Re: Does Disney read Mice Chat

If Disney's reading, I'll say this...

Please fix the latch in the women's bathroom at the parking structure. The 4th stall in... is missing the latch part that the arm swings into. And has been for months. A $2 piece of hardware and 30 seonds of labor will fix it.
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

sometimes I wish I could just be myself and talk about my job like normal people do, without worrying that my boss will read something and take it the wrong way. don't get me wrong, I love my job and I choose to work here, but its stressful sometimes.
Let me ask a question: What if the discussion centered around something that a Cast Member did that was wrong or broke the rules?

Or that the Cast Member was revealing information or data that was confidential or not to be released to the public? Such as attendance figures? Or plans for new attractions? Or budget cut numbers?

These are not things that are issued to the general public or in widespread communication methods and in most, if not all, the people who receive them are expected or even flat-out told to not release them. Yet how often do we see such information here on this site, either on the forum or in news updates. Is the Cast Member who shared this information breaking the policies by which they agreed to abide when they were hired? And if they are, should the not face the consequences of their actions?

And this is not about "watching over someone" or "playing Big Brother." Companies have an obligation to protect their trade secrets and other confidential information. And they have an obligation to correct situations such as breaking policies or rules. You do not have to "be careful" about what you post, unless you are breaking these rules above or are misrepresenting facts or events.

Disneyland does read the posts and they do discuss input that is well-written, well-thought out and they do take it to heart.
