Kasey knows this better than me, but there is a discalimer on the back of tickets regarding rain and their right to close early if circumstances warrant. Several years ago, we bought tix and went our one time a year and it poured out of no where. She went to City Hall and finally got them to issue new passes for another day. We noticed after that visit the verbage regarding rainly had changed to basically outta luck.

Wow, and we had wanted to go this week! It was bad enough driving 30 miles to Santa Maria in the wind and rain today. Glad we postponed our Disney days!

It's funny, they decided to close early too early! It's 3:30 now in Anaheim and the sun is coming out. Checking the weather and it looks like the rain is over, at least for today.

I don't think so, I was checking out the valley news and just now a severe storm warning/tornado warning was issued about 2.5 hours north near the Fresno area. It's moving this way, so it should be here before long (more rain that is).

Just got back from DL and in less than 20 minutes from getting off the tram was drenched 100%, so I left within the hour.

    You may have a point.

    Showers/wind after 5pm
Rain showers developing around 5pm. Cloudy and windy. Temperatures slowly falling to near 54F. Winds SW at 20 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 55%.

Nothing too serious. The worst of this system is past Anaheim with the next one moving in tonight. The National Weather Service doppler reflects that. There's always the possibility of thunderstorms developing though.

Yes, I understand that there are policies in place to protect Disney in case of inclement weather and unpredictable situations. But that wasn't what I was asking.

For example, if I were to decide "Hey, Disney in the rain sounds fun to me!", and packed up and got ready to go tomorrow, how would I check before making the two hour drive down to Anaheim whether or not the park would even be open? Would it be likely that Disney would post something on the website? Or would it just be hit-and-miss?

It seems to me that for their own sake, Disney would want to protect themselves in a situation like this. If they put a bulletin on their website during the storm (as opposed to the usual fine print warnings) stating: "Severe weather conditions may cause changes in operation, including but not limited to attraction closure and park operating hours.", then at least that might save them some headaches in the long run.

I'm not saying that they've done anything wrong. I'm just curious as to how they would handle the situation in order to keep the guests (and their own company), from being inconvenienced as much as possible.

    How did Knott's do it?

Are you sure they weren't already closed, though? Knott's is closed on certain holidays. And unless they updated their site immediately, Martin Luther King Day is marked as closed on their calendar. Just a theory.

Ah. I didn't check their website. That's probably the reason, though it seems odd not to be open when the majority of the schools are off today.

    Strange...

All of California is getting nailed this week. There is no sunny California this week. I'm in Chico and it stopped for a while, but looks like something fierce is moving back in.

For me, personally, tomorrow would not be an opportune time to be in a theme park. But many people enjoy the rain, and I do not necessarily think they are "not smart" (the post I quoted was later edited to not include those words) if they want to enjoy Disneyland that way. Disneyland is scheduled to be open this week. If that changes, do they have a way of informing people?
